The Grieg lieder are indeed wonderful!  I've known of this disc for years, but decided to pull the trigger when I saw that it was out of print.

Wolfgang Rihm, Four Studies for Clarinet Quintet (Minguet/Widmann)

Probably this time tomorrow, I'll be listening to the Minguet play Rihm's 11th quartet in concert. :)

I'm a massive fan of Dvorak so may take a look at these. Do you enjoy Dvorak, John? Don't hear you talk about him that much. Particular favourite Dvorak of mine include the Wind Serenade, 4th symphony, 7th,8th, 9th symphonies, piano concerto, slavonic dances, tone poems etc.

Wondering now what to spend my £100 commission money on! :)

I like Dvorak a good bit, but, obviously, my Dad is the bigger fan. You're wondering what to spend your commission money on? What about that Bartok/Boulez set? That's some essential music right there IMHO.

Hmm, well yes - it would seemingly make perfect sense to do so.  I do have the Quartetto Italiano set of Beethoven's quartet I bought in 2005, and I paid a hefty price for it too - well worth it though.  I brought it with me almost every where I went for almost 3 years straight!

A substantial foray into Fauré...

Bruns/Ishay — Cello Sonatas
Grumiaux/Crossley — Violin Sonatas (with Franck sonata)
Ortiz/Fine Arts Quartet — Piano Quintets

... and a compilation I assembled myself after purchasing individual tracks, combining a performance of the Piano Trio (Gil Shaham/Akira Eguchi/Brinton Smith) and the String Quartet (Loewenguth Quartet).

And finally, a very fine recent recording of the Diabelli Variations by pianist Laurent Cabasso.
