premont inspired me to follow suit, though on a much more modest scale, following my sweet wife's praise for their op 132 I played last night:

Why is it that I can go months without buying a CD or visiting GMG, yet scarcely a day goes by when I visit this site that I don't purchase at least one CD--and often of works that I already own more recordings of than any reasonably sane person could want?

(Somehow I knew you'd understand.)  ;D

Martha doesn't signal when the orchestra comes in, she's just pursing her lips.

Mullova in leather...how could I resist? Found a used copy in excellent shape fo 5 Euro (an Amazon seller). Thanks to donwyn for bringing this CD to my attention:

Sarge

Sarge I just bought what must be the reissue of that. (Haven't received it yet.) Unfortunately, it has her with the "I don't comb my hair" look on the cover.  :(

It is my favorite box set on the shelf, David.  Hope you enjoy.

I bought this box set last year.  It is a pretty delightful set.

I've had the Kletzki Beethoven set for years and all of you are only now getting to know it?

Nice, Sarge. Hope you like it.

And here's a nod to Anderszewski for his contribution (to the music, not the leather).
Veit Bach-a baker who found his greatest pleasure in a little cittern which he took with him even into the mill and played while the grinding was going on. In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

Many will agree with you, I know I do, but I would even go further and say its a fabulous composer, for those that can hear it.

I do. And the Prokofiev, which I'd never heard before, is a marvelous piece.

"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

There are whole months during which I feel it's his single greatest achievement!  I am delighted that you have at last heard the F Minor Sonata!

@Bruce: Would be interested to hear how that "From the House of the Dead" is. I've heard mixed things about it.

@Harry: Very interested in that Roslavets(sp) CD, Harry. I've bought a couple of others of his recently and like them very much.  8)
