Sweet! Didn't know that one was out there.

Always so much fun discovering new and better rehashes of old recordings!

Due to Gieseking's miniaturization of Mozart, this set is a bit controversial. I spent a good half hour in a used shop today trying to decide if it was worth squeezing onto my shelves before finally hearing the finale to one of the sonatas (forget which) that blew me away.

BTW, there's a new copy over at amazon.us for the same price i paid for my decent used copy.

listener

discounted 20% + 33 1/3%, how could I resist.    Don't need mail-order when these are on the shelf at my local b&m waiting to become irresistible when I touch them
The Olympia disc includes Leonard Bernstein's Variations on an Octatonic scale for recorder and cello
"Keep your hand on the throttle and your eye on the rail as you walk through life's pathway."

These two arrived yesterday and today and are my last 2 acquisitions for 2009.

That Hyperion Vivaldi set is superb. How does Norrington cope with Berlioz's Requiem?

Harry

A happy and prosperous New Year to all!

My first order this year.

The Norrington's Berlioz Requiem set is supposed to be highly acclaimed, though I think players of the Stuttgart Radio Symphonie Orchestra probably perform on modern instruments.

Stuart - I went w/ the Pinnock set above, just could not beat the price, and really enjoyed!  Looking forward to you comparative comments w/ Hogwood in the future!

Harry - just added that Marais disc to an Amazon order - couple of more additions and I'll 'pull the trigger' -  :D  Dave
