Still €12.99 to the USA, which is to my mind extortionate.

That is peanuts compared with €14.99 to Tanzania or China, not even to mention €19.99 to my backwaters  :P :P

They tell me the German postal rates are extremely high; they must pay their postmen in gold. >:D

Well, the high cost is not going to great service, that's for sure. They closed the post office in my town, got rid of the staff and moved it to the mom & pop grocery store. The owner and his wife became the new postal workers. When they're not weighing produce and selling eggs, they weigh packages and dispense stamps. I feel like I'm living in Hooterville  ;D

Exactly. Wasn't Hooterville the town? Or am I thinking of Petticoat Junction?

I believe they both took place in Hooterville.

I wasn't aware of shipping cost, guess in the bulk of it, I did not notice that anymore huh! ;D

Well, as your remote village is probably only served, logistically, by a donkey trail - 'shipping costs' are not really to be expeced, are they?  ;D

Ach, the same joke from the old forum Christo! ;D

You're mistaken, dear Harry, and even for a double reason: 1) there's no such joke in the old forum and 2) I myself happen to be from the East, a stubborn Low Saxonian, and more so than you are!  :D

Well, a) No, I only remember a photo of your plaggenhut, no farmhouse whatsoever, b) Yep: more than you, no doubt.

Well I said farmhouse, to be polite, now really. ;D
Plaggenhut, Pfffffff, of all places.
No electricity, no music.
See it was a impossible suggestion right away.
B, well if you insist, you are lower than me, but only because you seem to want that badly. :)

That would be a nice slogan for Mick Jagger - but for you?? (I prefer: Music yes, Mick Jagger no).

Much of the blame rests with the Deutsche Post. A single CD in a small envelope costs me 8 Euro (10 bucks!) to send to the States. The same envelope sent in the opposite direction via the US Postal Service costs $3.50. The Post really screws everyone.

not even  mentioning the TLC they  give to all packages... :(

I got an email from JPC today: they gave me a voucher worth 5 euros! Nice!  :)

Anyone else got JPC vouchers? Harry?
