Inspired by another thread.  I prefer 8 hours, but I usually get 5-7 hrs/night during the week, and 8-10 hrs/night during the weekend.  What about everyone else? :)

I seem to need about 7 on a regular basis.  During the week it may go down to 5, weekends up to 8.

Brian

Usually I get to sleep at 12.30 and wake up at 8.45, so 8.25 hours of sleep. Thanks to British Summer Time (ie Daylight Savings) ending last night, last night I went to sleep at 1 and woke up at 9.30 and got 9.5 hours! It felt GREAT.

DavidW

One more week Brian and I can enjoy that same bliss. :)

Todd

Five to seven hours.  I can't sleep more than seven hours unless I'm sick.

11 PM - 6 AM = 7 hours. I could use an hour or two more, but just can't retire earlier and wake up time is written in stone... :-\

Assuming I don't have to close and then open during the week, I probably average 8-9 hours, although I know 9 hours is what my body needs. Such a waste of my life.

DavidW

Not a waste Greg, sleep is awesome! :)

Though I admit that I sometimes wish I could be like those people that only need 5 hours a night! ;D  Not because I want more hours in the day but because if I only get 5 hours I'd fill right as rain, and 4 hours wouldn't be bad.

Yeah, there's an old lady I work with who says she's fine after only 5 hours of sleep. That would be nice...

I've taken the spring break to start a polyphasic sleep schedule. Right now I'm down to about 4.5 hours of sleep per day, which I guess is approaching the Everyman cycle. I took two 20-minute naps: one at 1:30 and one at 6:30 and generally feel pretty alert and energetic.

I think I'd like to cut it down to a 3-hour core nap and squeeze in a third nap during the day. Maybe eventually I'll cut down the core sleep chunk until and add in dispersed naps until I'm basically doing an Uberman cycle.

7.5 to 9 hours, perhaps 8 hours and 15 minutes in average. I must sleep/rest enough in order to cope with my job well because it is emotional and psychological hell.

I am spry in the evening and groggy in the morning. My optimal sleeping period is from 4 am to 12 am, which is impossible normally but happens during summer vacation.  :D

I'll just quote you so I don't have to write anything about myself.
Though I'll add that 8 hours really isn't enough... I feel like a zombie almost all day, every day, and the last few days I've had moments where it feels like a microsleep- either some thought that is completely illogical and random or some flash of beauty from another world, but it only lasts a second or two. It's the same thinking you get right before falling asleep.

Not enough.  I try to go to sleep around midnight, and wake up at 9.  So, I guess 9 hours, but still feel extremely tired past 6PM

Lethevich

An average of 8/day, often in double stints after being awake overnight. My body would prefer 11, so I feel constantly tired.

I actually feel amazingly well-rested on just a few hours with regular naps throughout the day. Plus, it gives me a chance to be up at night when everyone else is asleep.
