Is there a consensus as to "best Don Giovanni DVD"?  I want one, but I don't want Eurotrash dubious production values, je-je-je!

I have a Met. production in mind (read: wish-list), which one commenter on Amazon UK referred to as an "Old fashioned USAtrash production". :D

I've promised myself to get to know Così, truly I have.

I can imagine the sampler disc, Gettin' Cozy with Così.

Superb recordings, those two.

I agree. Love all Harnoncourt's Haydn...masses, symphonies, operas.

I can only speak for what I like, and when I watched the Levine production I loved it.  The conducting is sumptuous, Terfel is amazing, the costumes are lavish.

Thanks, Davey, that looks perfect.

I really liked this one, Karl.  Plus, the Il Commendatore statue has a somewhat striking and somewhat disturbing resemblance to Antonin Dvorak!  :D :o

BTW, Ray, I am delighted that you are enjoying Onegin!

For sure, I do!  Might be my favorite Russian opera, but I also love Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk by DSCH and Mussorgsky's raw powered Boris Godunov

I'd prefer the Il Commendatore Statue that looks more like John of Glassgow!

And what a range among the three of those operas, among the three composers!

You are my new best friend!  8)  I invite you over for wine and a feast.  Just don't dress up as a 10 foot Antonin Dvorak look-a-like statue as that will freak me out!  ??? ;)

Hah, yes I remember you mentioning this.  If you arrive as Lang Lang, I'm afraid you will be the one that will need to repent.  :D

I'll dress up as a tall Teemu Selanne statue.  Looks like the Jets are coming back to the Peg.
