Both recordings are well worth your money, and keep the cork on the bottle, I have these two recordings you are considering! ;D

I wouldn't recommend the Händel, not because of the performance but because the music really doesn't impress.

The Corelli on the other hand is wonderfull and recommended.

Actually I like Haendel so I'm going to take this risk! :)

Who knows, the Handel may just be the Monn, Arne, Muffat, or even -- Corelli.  ;)

My dear Andrei I think Q, said it a bit crude. :)
Impressive music it is, but in a friendly way.
I have played it many times, so its certainly not boring.

All those composers are excellent. :)

How about these ones?

The first recording I do not know, but the Naxos is worth your money.
Fine performances all round.

I'd like to know too. I've considering and reconsidering for half a year now.

From the old forum all I know is to avoid Barbara Bonney and look for an old EMI recording with Denise Duval.

I'm generally a fan of Nieuw but somehow I can't make up my mind.

I'd be happy to know if it comes with a libretto, for starters. Couldn't find any info or review.

You can track down EMI with Denise Duval only as an used copy of 5CD box Edition Centenaire vol.3. I'm pondering on that as well.

I had them both. They grated after a while.

Suggest these instead. Handel Chamber Music on Brilliant Classics. Geminiani Concerti Grossi after Corelli Op. 5 on Harmonia Mundi.

Thanks for the link. Though the conclusion ("All four recordings are compelling") doesn't really solve my problem - it actually makes it worse because I wasn't aware of the fourth recording... ;D

This is probably the best thread to ask. I have the original Borodin Shostakovich String Quartet cycle on Chandos Historical. I was thinking of completing the cycle with the Beethoven Quartet Chant du Monde CD (but can't find it). Can anyone recommend a good alternative (I don't really want to buy another complete cycle e.g. Emerson)? Can anyone speak for the Chant du Monde recording?

I actually found the last two SQ coupled on a Melodiya disk from the Borodin's second traversal.

I bought it used, so i am not sure if it exists outside of the set.  :-\

The Eder on Naxos are excellent and inexpensive, if not as good as the Borodin.
