I'll be spending more time with this 'un, Andy.

Good morning!

Considering this enthusiastically received DVD of LvB's Eroica Symphony, which includes a movement by movement explanation by MTT (includes perf. of entire symphony), see:

I saw this on PBS and it's really excellent.  I think you will enjoy it very much.

Seriously considering these, but the hit to wallet will be beyond serious:

PerfectWagnerite

J and R Music World is having a sale again, especially on Double EMI CDs. I am thinking about these, all are on sale for $6.99

Also all the GROC are on sale for $6.99 per disc.

Thanks, I am there!  :)

You know how HARD it was for me to NOT buy anything! I already raided Academy for Bernstein's complete London Symphonies for a grand total of $11.97 so I had to restrain myself.

Scriptavolant

Definitely this one:

Discovered it just tonight, finally a low price performance! Hail to Brilliant!

You went down there and got nothing?  :o :o :o

PerfectWagnerite

I went there to get a wireless router, and I walked out with a wireless router, and nothing else :)

I had about 7 CDs in my hands also but put them back the last second :)

Sometimes I just say to myself: hmmm, do I need my 21st recording of Mahler's 3rd Symphony or my 15 Bruckner 8th, then I grind my teeth, put the CDs back and walk out without looking. It is tough man, really tough.

You and me both, Marvin. If it looks like I am going to be shut out after an hour of browsing (it rarely happens), Plan B comes into effect, which is to buy something that I would not normally buy.

I estimate one third of these unusual purchases are enjoyed and kept, one third are not enjoyed and sold soon after, one third are never opened and returned for credit during the next browse.

Very good reviews, good sound, and on my order list also.
Another hail for Brilliant.
Don't overlook the SQ from Korngold, the same quality.

If I remember well the Orpheus Quartet already recorded Malipiero's String Quartets on another label (39€); I don't know if this is new or simply a re-edition of the old one, anyway it deserves attention.

And no no Korngold no  ;D Remember my diabetes on his Violin Concerto?

Sounds like Russian Roulette BorisG, I should definitely try that.  The big advatage is discovering wonderful music that you would have never been exposed to had you not taken this risk.  Opens up your horizons.

I'm very curious as to your thoughts on that one George! Some of my most favorite music!
