Would that it was easy to find, nowadays. :(

When I was looking for a Ring DVD, I went for the Kupfer first, hoping to get the Chereau a little later, and then it went OOP.

Oh, it's fairly inexpensive in Germany, still. Even with shipping up North, I'd think it's a deal:

Ring, Chereau, 8 DVDs

Aha, I'd assumed it was OOP everywhere.

Thanks. :) I'll keep it in mind for when I've Wagner money for the spending (cf. blood money)!

The Schumann here is quite good. I like the way he feel the overall arc of the pieces and he does the transitions a bit better than most (at least, they seem more natural to me). His DG set is the one that usually gets the attention, but I definitely like the sound better here (warmer). I'm afraid that is ony a portion of the set, but I don't know the rest to comment.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

I like all the ingredients (B4 in particular, but also the un-fussy Mozart) I just hate the packaging... all these composers together in box... nah!

You can pretend it's three Siamese box sets, instead.

I am intrigued by the Bruckner 3rd, more than anything else in there, in not having had a clue Kubelik recorded it.

Either way, I'd expect the contents to be worth the investment. Very 'Kubelik' repertory.

Ah, yes, he did. Also available on SACD in a different performance, also with the BRSO:

A.Bruckner, Symphony No.3
R.Kubelik, BRSO
Audite

Maybe the box-set will bring the price down for the single disc version of the 3rd... that I've still got missing.

If you're looking for an affordable box set, I would opt for Baumont:

Not being a Francois Couperinian (Louis Couperin is something else) I never-the-less own the Borgstede box as well as the Beaumont box. I have not heard all of the contents, but like ~Que~ I prefer Baumont.

I don't know those sets, but the Handel set by Borgstede is superb.

I own all three, can heartily recommend them.

Same! I couldn't pick only one of the two Stravinsky boxes, as both have great plus-points and do not tread on each others toes, so to speak.

I'll report for the record that I'm delighted with Noëlle Spieth's cycle, but it's rare and expensive in any format besides MP3, and Borgstede and especially Baumont have received endorsements here that I wouldn't hesitate to trust...

I own the Stravinsky box and I own all of Boulez's Bartok and Stravinsky DG recordings. Bought them all individually many years ago. They are all worth their weight in gold. Excellent performances.

Noëlle Spieth is also my preffered version! :)

But indeed - rare and expensive. I got lucky that it was for sale on the label's (Solstice) site on the very moment when I was interested in buying.

I also like Rousset - but that is definitely impossible to find, and probably the kind of performances on which opinions will vary greatly.

Hence the Baumont recommendation.

I think that is licenced from ARTS? I have a few seperate discs - to be honest the music isn't all that good :-\ If you enjoy the style (kind of salon-esque, student works in the late Romantic manner) then the performances are very good. If not, then the major works have been recorded elsewhere, a few of them are quite good (the violin sonata, and piano quartet - or is it a quintet?).
