I visited both websites (Mexican Classical and Enjoy New Music) and found nothing about the mp3 of the Carrillo symphony.   ???

What am I not seeing?  I went to "About" and also did a search, but found nothing.

The search works for me on MexicanClassicalMusic, did you spell it with two 'r's and two 'l's?

That worked: the spelling was not a problem, but rather the computer system blocking things here at school!

Many thanks!

Just out of curiosity, I noticed that you submit less than 1 posting per day.  On boards of this type, I find that those who get the most responses per posting are the folks who post with the greatest frequency.

As for the clique matter, I assume there's at least one major clique on the board.  Being a solo type person, I'm not attracted to or part of any board group; a team player I am not.

My advice is to just be yourself and try to post more frequently.  Your postings on this thread have resulted in quite a few responses.  Keep at it and all should be fine.  Your declared position of posting less and less will only have the opposite effect of what you want from the board.

Of course, none of the above applies to the nut-jobs that come our way from time to time.  One post from a nut elicits many responses of a condescending nature.

Was that figure from averages? When I first joined, I'd post several times a day. Now, I mostly lurk. So the averages won't tell you much.
To clarify... yes, people will answer direct questions, but I've just found that it's not worth posting personal opinions and recommendations. My recent posts get more answers because I'm more aware of what people will respond to. I'm still disappointed however, as I thought I'd find like-minded people who get excited about the same classical music as me... God knows that doesn't happen anywhere else in real life, my job is usually to photograph rock and pop musicians. I think I'm missing a brotherhood of pianists and people who love recordings of virtuosic soloists, but I haven't found them yet. I also love weird hybrids of jazz/classical, and really unusual transcriptions, but I think most people at GMG have quite conservative tastes.

Yes, from averages.

Well, I'm not much on pep talks, but I gave it a try and will again.

You can't expect existing active members to walk in your direction; you have to do the walking (and be patient about it).

Being the person I am, I don't really comprehend your statement about a brotherhood, but I do know that if I post anything that strikes a chord with a few other members, the responses will be forthcoming.  So, get out there and strike those chords. 8)

I have an impression that a majority of members are men: it would be nice to have more women around!   0:)

There are also a good number of coots, codgers, and curmudgeons,   :o as opposed to dudes, dodgers, and dudettes. 8)    Perhaps that should be rectified!

And we aren't talking about proctology!   0:)

Well, I am not your brother -  ;D but I think you are making the mistake that because more folks on GMG don't share your specific taste then they have conservative taste.  Off the top of my head I can think of several posters (James, Philoctetes, Brewski) that almost always post about contemporary, or new, music - also, not for me, but I'm conservative, not them, as well as many others.

Now that you mention it, there was a fellow like you. But I can't find him right now. Can I shoot you instead?

BobsterLobster, have you started a thread on any of these subjects you would like to discuss? There a lot of people on the forum interested in pianists, and I like some virtuosic violin playing (or viola, cello, guitar, harpsichord,...), too. Perhaps you should consider creating the thread instead of complaining about others not doing so for you.

That's great advice.

BobsterLobster, my posts get ignored from time to time, but perhaps when I make a post, I'm stating something that doesn't warrant being responded to? I do like to find common interests with people, but at the same time, I am my own man and post what I feel. I'm not here for acceptance from others but rather to find some people who enjoy some of the same composers I do so we can discuss the music. You can't expect everyone to acknowledge you. Sometimes I just like to read what has been posted if I want to add something, I'll simply add to it.

You certainly won't make any friends here by complaining that you're not getting any attention. I mean we're not a bunch of kids here. Okay well maybe MN Dave is, but most of us aren't. :D Anyway, the ball is in your court.

P.S. You also won't make any friends by assuming that everyone here on GMG has conservative tastes in music. There are plenty of members here who are into Contemporary music. I do like a good many Contemporary composers, but I suppose my tastes are more moderate.

Yikes, it's getting a bit out of hand... I didn't mean to make so much fuss, just some general observations.
Thanks for all the advice, I have definitely adjusted the way I interact here since I joined.
Like with most discussions in life, the truth is probably in the middle somewhere.
Thanks for the encouragement, perhaps I'll make a bit more of an effort when I've finished my Master's thesis I'm in the middle of and should be doing right now instead of procrastinating here!

I perused all of your postings since you joined up; seems to me that you get at least as much response as I receive.  So I end up feeling that you are complaining about nothing of merit.

I do admit that I haven't responded often to your postings; that's probably because you don't care for pre-classical era but do love transcriptions.  My main man is Bach and I don't think well of most transcriptions/arrangements.
