Who cares?  I borrowed the phrase to describe the US.

Fine, I'll rephrase the question. Who is this "US" you're talking about? The GOP? The GOP's constituency? The Democrat Party? The Democrat Party's constituency? The US government? The US people? The US and US's political allies? The US and US's military allies? Who?

Maybe he'll announce that he's electing assisted suicide!
Perhaps a new reality TV show: The Candidate. It could hardly produce worse results than our present system given the successful dumbing-down of the electorate in recent decades.

It's one of my favorite comedy bits of all time.

It's one of everyone's favorite comedy bits of all time....

Which allows me to introduce a memnonic in two languages, and allow people to guess what the second language involved is (the first is obviously English).  Certain pronouns in language two are homophones for certain pronouns in English, although their spelling in English letters does not exactly match the spelling of the English language pronouns, as my transcription might suggest.

Li is me
Me is who
Who is he
He is she
She is who.

There's this guy that I've had to talk to twice... he comes into the store and start talking politics to whichever random stranger happens to walk by. Except he doesn't talk- he'll talk to me about the plants he's buying and then just start yelling as much hatred against Obama as possible at full volume so everyone can hear.

A few quotes...
-this one nice black lady that shops regularly here is walking about while he's yelling anti-Obama stuff, and then when she's off a little further away, he says, "I don't care who I offend! Those types of people need to be offended!"

-"Obama needs to stop his communist ways, IN THE NAME OF JESUS!"
He complains about the amount of government support such as food stamps that are being handed out. I'm confused... does North Korea hand out food stamps, too? Communist governments take care of their people... since when?...

-"And it's like it's so bad to even say anything against the president!"
Oh, really...? So we're the Soviet Union now?

-"We need to rise up and take a stand, united!"
There will definitely be some violence committed by angry rednecks, for sure. At that one business I mentioned earlier that was "built all by myself and made so that Obama is a one-term president," I saw an ambulance and some police there a few weeks ago. First thing that popped into my mind: someone says something positive about Obama and the redneck takes their shotgun and says, "Git off mah propertay!" BAM!  ;D

He tells the other people to listen to Michael Savage... he drives 2 hours to work and 2 hours back every day, from Ocala to Orlando... uhhh  signs of a healthy mind? ::)

Of all the criticism directed at Obama the most stupid and far-fetched is that he is a communist. Those Americans who share this view have absolutely no idea what communism really means. It's exactly like criticizing Romney for being a fascist: empty rhetoric devoid of any historical knowledge and common-sense whatsoever.

I would almost make a bet that 40% of the people in the area I live in think Obama is secretly a communist and 60%+ think he is a socialist. And the favorite saying around here is "socialism is just one step away from communism." Must be a giant step, though, from France to North Korea, or even China. Another favorite saying about socialism is that "everyone suffers" under socialism.

I understand that government spending is ridiculous right now and that some of the welfare rules need to be tightened, but I get the impression that some of these people want to completely eliminate all social safety nets for poor people. If that happened, I would have to start working on the cash register inside, because working outside, all alone at night would be very dangerous with people with guns wanting to take my money. Like the guy I work work with told me, sometimes they just don't care and shoot you anyways after taking the money.

A quote from funny political quotes page in the Orlando Sentinel:  "Poor and weary no longer welcome in America."  :D

It's just an empty epithet.

The context is an era in which a major party's nominee for President wants to privatize disaster relief*.

Some of Dick Morris's predictions:

QuoteIn the next few days, the battle will move to Pennsylvania (20), Michigan (15), Wisconsin (10) and Minnesota (16). Ahead in Pennsylvania, tied in Michigan and Wisconsin, and slightly behind in Minnesota, these new swing states look to be the battleground.

Or will the Romney momentum grow and wash into formerly safe Democratic territory in New Jersey and Oregon?

I do worry that we'll have a Katherine Harris situation with the Ohio Secretary of State.

Brian

Not sure he should talk about waves of momentum washing into New Jersey right now.
