I'm sure at least a few will be bringing their Havergal Brian's along!  :D

Wait till someone name the Hans Rott boxset of complete symphonies.

That's obviously a bomb to blow the island off the map in disguise.

If we wait for Karl to post tomorrow, I'm sure he'll not let his Ozawa box of Prokofiev go up in mosquito-repelling flames. Wait awhile and you'll have the rest also.

Karl's challenge will be to bring symphonies from non-Russian composers.  Although, I have a feeling Sibelius and Nielsen will be making his list.

Someone start a "guess Karl's top five" thread!

Wait, I mean Symphony.

LOL.   :D   Poor Hans, bless him.  He probably had an unusual but good sense of humor, so here is a cover for his entire boxset.  It took 25 years of development and design technologies to finally produce this:

Can someone make a sacrifice and bring a Schumann and Mendelssohn set along?  :)

The guy is already on an desert island. You want him to be suicidal, too?  :o

LvB Leibowitz

Tchaikovsky - Fricsay (He only did 4, 5 and 6). If I'm not allowed that one then I'd go for Markevitch

Shostakovich - Barshai

Brahms - Walter

Schubert - Abbado
Cheers

Well, I was going to also ask if someone could bring Penderecki along too.  :D

Mozart - Krips (incomplete, but I'll take what I can get)
Haydn - Russell Davies

Ah so somebody on this forum has heard Davies set!  I am also interested in that Krips Mozart set.

I suppose for me:

Ozawa Prokofiev
Weil Haydn (some sturm und drang, paris, and chunnel)
Minkowski Haydn (London)
Haitink Beethoven (lso)
Daussgard Schumann

I find the Davies set quite good (applause at the end of each symphony is a bit of a nuisance).   As far as I am concerned, Fey is the best by far, but I have started to despair of living long enough to see his cycle complete.

Krips, very slow, stodgy Mozart, but there is some value in the beautiful sound of the Concertgebouw Orchestra.

And the other two will be Mozart! :D

Perhaps.  :D  There is enough people bringing various Beethoven sets so that he has variety for the weekly Sunday Beethoven's 9th festival.  8)
