The article about classical music market shares had a nice link to the Nodame Cantabile manga films on YouTube. Very nice -

That anime is really cool. Too bad they only have the first two episodes (AFAI can see...)

They're all there -- 1 1/3, 1 2/3, 1 3/3, 2 1/3 -- you get the idea. Three episodes in all.

Ah, three episodes...but there are upwards of twenty in all... hmm ... no worries... I see other ways to get them  8)

How on earth did Amazon's system comes up with these 'alternatives'? ;D

Incidentally, let's make this the thread for anything odd we find online. ;)

Does anyone also get weird recommendations from Amazon?

I had one a few months back, on the lines of ...

Because you bought the Gilels/Jochum Brahms PC set, we recommend Dawkins's The God Delusion.

Huh? ???
Durch alle Töne tönet
Im bunten Erdentraum
Ein leiser Ton gezogen
Für den der heimlich lauschet.

Yeah, I watched the episodes that were on youtube. Pretty good, and, like all anime, pretty strange.  :)

Larry Rinkel has left?

WTF!!! :o

What did I miss?

Sad times indeed when one of the best informed and more knowledgable members of this forum feels it necessary to move on. We've lost a good man. :(

Speaking of WTF, hopefully this was not in your 401K

When he returns (soon), he'll be much stronger and wield a more potent resistance to the "Harry Effect" .......

or for anyone who hates Amy Winehouse...

This is the video for you.

The band don't even bother hiding their disgust  :).

Well apparently Amy's daddy thinks she"s fine.

You're kidding me? He left because of Harry? I must've missed this, as I stopped following the back and forth exchanges in certain threads when the arguments for and against ... whatever it was, I forget now ... got dizzyingly circular. ::)

When did gmg turn into a soap opera?

gmg has essentially turned into the very thing George tried to start in the thread about not being serious. I doubt he noticed the irony though

Well I never!

Didn't know that the 'Who's Online' page of this forum shows who's reporting topics to a Moderator. I shan't say which member was involved, but I think this does remove some of the privacy and confidentiality surrounding communications with Mods. :-\

You are correct, Mark, but the thing is: you have to look "Who's Online" at exactly the moment the other party is reporting.  Further, the topic being reported is not shown, nor is the response to the report, which could be anything from immediate action, to something later behind the scenes, or...nothing!  ;D

I agree though, that in the realm of privacy concerns, some might not want this information revealed.  I'll send a query to Rob.

For the brief minute or two that you make a "report", your location and action is visible if anyone just happens to be looking at the "Who's Online" page during that time.

However, that page does not reveal the content or the subject of the report, simply that Member X is making a report to the moderators.

I have two views on this:

1. So what? If you are offended enough by a post to make a report to moderator, you should have the guts to back it up with the potential public knowledge that you have made such a report.

2. If you do not wish your action to be made public, albeit very briefly, so can choose to make your Profile hidden.
