How on earth did Amazon's system comes up with these 'alternatives'? ;D

Incidentally, let's make this the thread for anything odd we find online. ;)

Certainly an eclectic mix. What were you searching for to start with?  ???

I looked briefly at the Nielsen Symphonies on Chandos.

Hey, you could search anything at amazon, Gurn, and 56% would buy the Nielsen Complete Symphonies  0:)

Well, Mark, then the Bach and Verdi do certainly look completely random.

Everyone I know purchases Nielsen Symphonies in conjunction with Bach's WTC ........ It's a given .........

OK. I guess it shows what a strange sense of humor I have, but I find this absolutely hilarious. (WARNING: Rated R!)

Here's a completely different type of mindlessness:

Woah there, horsey! :o

Just checked the general site stats. Says I'm the second-highest thread starter (52), and that I'm about to become the 10th most prolific poster (knocking Haffner off the bottom slot ...

Mark

... with THIS post!) ;D

WTF???

Never knew I spent so much time here. :D

Brian

That reminds me ... the last time I looked at my thread count it was I think 10.

EDIT: 181. Progress?

Oh noooooo....not the badgers here too!  :o That has been reposted at pretty much any other forum I visit.

Why is that so funny?  :D I wonder really, because it actually is rather funny, but I don't know why. It's absurd.

If any curious ETs visiting catch us watching that, I'm sure they would run away screaming.

But then, I'm also a huge fan of Monty Python (Flying Circus, mostly), Beavis and Butthead, and films like the Big Lebowski.

It's funny partly because it is so mindless, stupid, and crazy.

Alan Watts, one of my favorite writers on Buddhism, once said that one needs to go out of one's mind to come to one's senses. He said that one needs half an hour or so a day to act completely goofy, so as to maintain balance and perspective.

Tancata

My latest WTF moment came from Alex Ross.

The country where classical music has the lowest market share (worldwide): Ireland (at 1%, or one-third that of Britain, or one-eleventh that of Austria and Hong Kong).

I am a bit surprised that it's so much lower than Britain. Maybe there were margins of error involved. Maybe its the relative poverty of the classical music scene. I suppose niche markets shrink exponentially when you decrease population size...but I dunno.

For any fans of Michael Jackson...

or Charlotte Church...

or for anyone who hates Amy Winehouse...

This is the video for you.

The band don't even bother hiding their disgust  :).

Mark

Yep. Genuine WTF moment. Well found.
