Ooh, how do you find that, Karlo?

I bought the Endellion Beethoven cycle based on its samples but was somewhat disappointed by it. The first violin is often not very secure, which really distracts me.

I also have Talich and the recently-reissued Vegh. I'm only halfway through the Vegh but I'd recommend either of those ahead of Endellion.

Thread duty: Van Cliburn Memorial concert

Pettersson Symphony 8, Sanderling on CPO

15 minutes in I like this the most of any of his I've heard.

Permit me to pound the table.  Symphonies 8 and 9 together = a marvellous disc.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

Heard that one recently, thus I think this is music that makes you happy, a bit like Mendelssohn.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

My regular dose of piano music by Debussy (to avoid withdrawal syndrome  :D ):

[asin]B007WA1348[/asin]Claude Debussy: Pour le piano, Estampes and Suite Bergamasque (Théodore Paraskivesco, piano)

I've always been an admirer of Paraskivesco's Debussy..."lean and muscular" are the words that come to mind  :)
