Sorry to hear about the health problems, Harry. Best wishes for your recovery. And thanks for your always informative posts.

I very strongly recommend the Sound & the Fury's box set of Caron's music - but I suspect you already have it.

Thank you, the recovery is indeed slow, which is bothering me excessively.
I am happy you appreciate my postings. I know I am not always perfect in my way of reviewing but I do my best.
The Sound and the Fury box is on my to order list :)
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Feel better, mijn vriend!

Thank you Karl I do my best, but I feel it is a struggle uphill, and I get tired sometimes of fighting my way up.

I too hope you feel better. It's a drag, in more ways than one.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Thank you Neal!
I have struggled for such a long time, I would like some light on the end of the tunnel.
Without my music I would not have survived in a spiritual way.

Second rerun of a much admire female composer.
There almost no words for such musical beauty.

Have not seen the Gewandhaus. Worth a try, or no?

And the Utah mention gets my attention! More comments, please, after you hear the whole thing.

[Mahler 8]
Your Lucerne DVD sounds like it's much better than the Gewandhaus DVD, which is a bit low-energy. The DVD of the Second Symphony in that series, however, is a great one. Don't have any of the others in the series.

This Utah Eighth is a good, solid effort, and I'm happy with it, but I don't think anyone needs to rush out and buy it. It might be a good recording to suggest as an intro to the work for someone who has never heard it before.

Third rerun of this composer that has a very special place in my heart.

funny how you think you are dead sick of a composition, and then you here a version that brings it all back to life again.
