Two American symphonies:

Hovhaness - Symphony No. 6 Celestial Gate: A quite lovely piece, reaching many touching moments. It has to be one of his most melodious symphonies. There is a melody that sounds incredibly similar to the theme of My heart will go on from Titanic. Perhaps that soundtrack composer was inspired by Hovhaness (?).

Maslanka - Symphony No. 4: If the Hovhaness is the lyrical one, the Maslanka is the epic one! A tremendous and invigorating symphony. This kind of band works really appeal to me.

That's a lovely Hovhaness disc!

Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 [Klemperer]

This is a fine, robust performance with a wonderful display from the brass section throughout.

Is this the mono or the stereo?

Rock solid and exciting. :)
Judging from the cover it could be the mono.I prefer those over the stereo remake, which are even more solid and less exciting.

I'm a fan of Enrico Onofri and his dusky violin tone, so this was an easy sales pick at jpc.
Curious how it will compare to my current favourite Stefano Montanari (with Dantone, ARTS). We'll see....  :)

My first Eroica was the stereo  recording and I found it very impressive.I had no Idea about right tempo and all that and Just could enjoy it as it was.
The mono recordings were electronically stereophonisized and purchased Them a little later.I stil have a soft spot for the 1963 recording.

That's a lovely Hovhaness disc!
+1 the Maslanka disc looks interesting as well - never heard of him.
TD: Asrael in a very fine recorded performance.

Never heard about that - are you sure?

Quite possibly the best piano recital ever, in any case one of the most spectacular: an eighty-something plays one-and-a-half hour worth of music entirely from memory.

Never seen the word stereophonisized before anywhere.

According to the information in the booklet for the box set you show Symphonies 3 & 5 were recorded in X & XI 1959, Abbey Road Studios; all the contents of the box are described as stereo. The publication date of No 3 is given as 1961.

I also have the Eroica on a disc from the series 'the klemperer legacy' and it is the same recording as the box set. According to the booklet notes, Klemperer conducting a live cycle of the symphonies in 1957 with the Nos 1, 4, 8 & 9 being recorded while the cycle was in progress. Nos 2 & 6 were recorded just a few weeks before and Nos 3 & 5 in 1959. No 7 was recorded in 1955.

These recordings are mono and they were available in (elektronic) stereo

I cannot find information about this but there were more EMI recordings that were  made electronically   stereo.I remember also a Boris Godunov that was originally mono.
