A very good recording of that work.  But, is a sad state of affairs, since that one is fairly old.  I am hoping for a new OVPP recording made by one of the excellent vocal ensembles specializing in early music.

An exquisite piece, and so thanks again and doubly thanks for the alert.

Built like a prize fighter with huge hands Boris Berezovsky needed only one for this  terrific performace of Ravel's 2nd piano concerto. The orchestra is also outstanding.

After about an hour of Pelleas (I love it, but can't sufficiently concentrate on it while at work) so I switched to Berg's Lulu Suite

I really should listen to Berg more often.

Have been spending the evening "rediscovering" pianist Gianluca Cascioli with these two recent purchases (that arrived today  :) ):

I've found these Préludes to be top-notch, with a perfect balance between "structure" and "beauty of sound" (to use the terms Cascioli himself uses in the informative interview that is printed in the booklet accompanying the CD). Strangely (for me at least), Cascioli mentions Gieseking as a historical precedent that also paid attention to those two aspects of these wonderful pieces. My perecpetion of Gieseking's Debussy is that he gives precedence to "beauty" and "atmosphere", to the detriment of "structure" and "definition" (and I've actually grown to dislike Gieseking's playing because of this).

Piano sonatas K310, K333, K394 and K570

Also very enjoyable, although it seems to me that Cascioli takes some (at times slightly irritating)  liberties with the tempi, and his articulation can appear arbitrary at times. Yet, the dynamics are great, and in the end the music flows nicely...but not at the same (very high) level of the Debussy...

Well, the pieces I've loved for a while ... recordings by Heifetz/Feuermann/Rubinstein, Szeryng/Fournier/Rubinstein, and yes, most recently the Gaia Szienca two-disc set, which gets the nod as far as recent/HIP goes, I guess. What would interest me though, would be if the Benvenue Fortepiano Trio tackled these!

Oh, I see. I'm a big fan of Vera Beths and Anner Bylsma (together or separately) and this disc is no exception, but I know that's not always a unanimous opinion.

TD: Ravel: Left-hand Concerto (Francois, Cluytens).

Actually Beths had me sit up and listen plenty of times! Bylsma I'm not that familiar with yet, and Immerseel, I can actually do without ... but the recordings pleased me quite some, really, I would so far not put them far behind the Gaia Scienza ones!
