My second try with JPC failed too. Apparently they have changed their credit card system since my last order last February and now my credit card just does not work there. So, I ordered the cds for the third time using Paypal. This is very annoying. I always thought of JPC of a very good company, but it seems they are no able to make their payment system work properly. Too bad, there are not too much quality cd online shops, especially those offering good deal on CPO cds.

Update: It seems my "Paypal" order is succesful, but this shopping experience was not great.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

They send "card not present " transaction formats (which are common for use over the net) as "card present" transactions (as is common when you use the card in a physical payment terminal in an shop).

If you have set your card parameters to disallow physical use outside Finland (as a security measure in case somebody clones your card in a compromised ATM or some such) the card company will translate this as a physical transaction by your card, and refuse it.

I have told jpc countless times that they neeed to talk to their IT supplier about this fault. I have to disallow all security measures each time I buy from jpc, and then set them up again after the transactions have cleared.

Wow, this is superb information! I believe I have disallowed physical use of my credit card outside Finland! They should at least inform their customers about this. This might be also the reason why my credit card does not work with Amazon.fr (other Amazons are ok).

Thanks!  0:)

Back from a week of vacation in the South (where else to go in December ?  :D). The mailbox was overflowing with small and big packets. I managed to smuggle everything in the house without incident  8).

The Konwitschny box will take me some time to go through. Meanwhile the Amazon cart steadily grows. I always wait a few weeks and eventually demote some of the "purchases" to the "save for later" section. Some get deleted. It's always good to take your time before banging the "buy" button  ;D

Hah! Indeed. This should be an excellent recording or at least if the excerpts I heard were any indication.

I just acquired this fastening recordings of the music of Stacy Garrop.  She is an Associate Professor of Composition at the Chicago College of Performing Arts of Roosevelt University.  She received her baccalaureate from the University of Michigan, her master's degree from the University of Chicago, and her doctorate from Indiana University.

I found the following links that have samples of her music on YouTube:

I also found this interview of her:

fastening = fascinating? Just want to know.

One can't possibly have too many Sea Drifts and Florida Suites in his collection  :D

This symphony seems to be a favourite of those who heard it. Available in a big box (most of whose contents I already have) or coupled with William Mathias' first symphony (have that too). This disc has just the 31 minute Joubert on it. No trimmings.

"fastening" is correct since I am stuck on the recording and can not stop listening to it for now.  ;)

Just in  case, dear Dave, this "Et in Arcadia Ego: Poussin and the Elegiac Tradition" by Erwin Panofsky, probably makes an excellent introduction to this disk...

Small cover alert !  :o

I'm glad I could finally get hold of that disc (for 5$ at the used record store). According to some the performance of the symphony is clearly superior to its CPO counterpart. This is one of the few Pettersson symphonies I did not have yet.
