Nice haul, André. 8) I may look into acquiring that Andriessen series as well.

Thanks John. The Andriessen discs had been stuck at a 7.99€ price tag for years. It's the first time they go down. I would imagine it's a clearance sale and when supplies are gone, that's it...

The Hindemith song cycle is the most intriguing for me. I bought it on a Vox LP over 40 years ago and dimly recall a dreary listening experience. I didn't keep that one for long. I'm ready now to renew the experience  :)

Florestan, where did you find that Shaham box? I was looking at it but hoping the price would go down. Instead, it went up so I stopped looking  ;D

Tonal, late Romantic, with some modern twists and turns. He writes fine melodies, and always has something unexpected coming out. He was always an outsider, and made his own unique path, apart from other influences, and that is especially why I bought it, it feels akin. Try to sample before you buy. Lauber is not easily won over, but once you find his intrinsic core, it rewards. That's my two cents. I would say you could stream the first two CD's but I do not think that you could or would. I am curious what you make of them.
Thanks my friend - much appreciated.

Yeah, I love Hindemith, but that particular song cycle was a tough listen. That Ondine recording is top-notch despite my reservations about the work itself.

And Amazon US now lists it as Currently Unavailable. You and I both hesitated...and lost...

If you are into FLAC, I'll gladly let you have it.  ;)

The offer is valid for you as well, Jeffrey (JBS).

Beethoven in recycling mode. I didn't know these arrangements (by LvB himself) even existed.

Dvorak 9, Ancerl.

Arrived the disc. Characteristically sharp performance and good recording sound. Happy Monday !

Just bought:

One can never own too many recordings of Tveitt's Nykken (there's only two...haha  --- this one and the BIS one with Ruud), which, for this listener, is one of his finest works.

Always on the lookout for more Tveitt, which always causes a bit of a twinge thinking of all those scores burning up in that house fire.

Via Qobuz:

Debussy: La Mer

A fine La Mer, very well recorded and played.

I was not previously aware of this fantastic recording of the Piano Concerto No. 1 (with it's famous Toccata that was covered by Emerson, Lake & Palmer).  The Mexico City orchestra play like demons for Batiz. The Harp Concerto is also excellent, though I don't think I've encountered a disappointing recording of it.

It's sad to think about what happened to him, but, at the same time, we're lucky to have what we have and this is enough for me.

Thank you, but I don't have the hardware for downloading. I don't even have a computer or laptop, just this phone and a laptop. (The last computer died, and I realized I had no real need for one anymore.)

Just ordered this from Amazon, which is discounting it to $80 plus tax.
