Culled a few boxes of discs today, maybe 400. Meanwhile, I checked their inventory and came back with these (used of course):

I had some of these works (Dusapin's solos for orchestra are independent from each other and do not form a cycle), and had been longing for the rest.

Two of Widor's Organ Symphonies played on a very fine instrument from my home town. How could I resist?  :)

One never has too much CPE. Never. I'm glad I cornered this. Not that it's hard to find or expensive. But who knew that this great composer wrote V&P sonatas ? Not me.

Ropartz is one of my favourite composers of his era. I don't have all that much by him: the symphonies, a disc of choral works (incl. the Requiem) and a chamber music work for harp and strings. That's it.

Dont you have the first in the Liege box?

Excellent recording, I hope you enjoy the Brouwer compositions as well. Have you heard them before?

Good to hear, Jessop. I'm not familiar with hardly any of Brouwer's music unfortunately. Takemitsu is, of course, one of my favorite composers, so I was quite needing his solo guitar music to fill a void.

These Brouwer pieces I think are quite pleasant, not too dissimilar to several of Takemitsu's guitar pieces. It would have been pretty cool if Takemitsu became a more proficient guitarist and played his own music though....... ::)

Takemitsu's own solo piano music suggests that he had quite an ear for the piano's dynamic range as well. I'm not sure if Takemitsu actually knew how to play any instrument but his knowledge of each instrument's range is quite extraordinary. I don't call many composers geniuses as this is such an overused word, but I truly believe Takemitsu was as I don't think he had any kind of academic training (not that this makes someone a genius), but it's the fact that he seemed to write music so fluently and had such a wide spectrum of sounds he was able to achieve was quite unbelievable for someone without training. Some people are just born with this kind of gift.

I have to say I think Britten is another composer with this ability of instrumental writing. :)

Absolutely. There are many composers who wrote with a great fluency and facility when it came to instruments. Shostakovich comes to mind immediately as does Mahler.

I have no idea what to expect here.

Never ever ever been so quick to buy a recording of something in my life. A little over an hour ago this was completely unknown to me. I can only describe my reaction as love at first sight.

I'm surprised and impressed you enjoyed it as much as I did!  :o
Though the effect of that piece has worn off for me a bit, I've heard it at least 15-20 times over the past four months

Now...I'm wondering....what you'd think of Laurie Anderson  ::) (not classical but similar aesthetic with use of language and voice and a primary musical element)

I'm really worried I am going to listen to this way too often now  ::)  :(

I can't see the picture. I've been having a lot of problems lately being able to view Discogs' website.

Where did you buy it? I haven't find it in the usual online stores...

I cannot sample that piece on YT now (maybe later in the evening) but from her wiki page she looks very intriguing indeed, and reminds me a bit of Demetrio Stratos https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demetrio_Stratos.
But probably it's something completely different...
