This one, like the earlier Beethoven mass, is filed under "Need to get around to this."  It is also filed under, "Hell, it's less than $6 shipped" however. :D:

Both of those records are terrific and I think you will find them to be keepers; say some words about the Monteverdi in the composer thread, as you've had time to digest and compare etc.  I hope you like it even half as much as I do.
I listened to KUNSTs by the aforementioned Fretwork and by Phantasm (Simax) in the same evening and I'll be damned if I can pick a favorite.  Fretwork's is quite a bit longer, but somehow Phantasm's feels denser and smokier.
I'm thinking about getting Fretwork's GOLDBERGs recordings as well.

Haha, backatcha!  In fact I am much harder on myself.  Just a couple hours ago I made the biggest single music purchase of possibly my life.  It's totally disgusting.  I am dripping on the keyboard now from the clothes-on shower I just took.  I'm going to post the acquisitions in small batches throughout this week to make the self-loathing easier to handle.  Two more medium-sized purchases and then austerity measures will be real and inevitable, for the remainder of the year.

I must admit that this sounds like a fascinating haul.  (Not trying to be a sadist or anything, just very curious.)

If I had a Kuwaiti Dinar every time someone in GMG said something like that that... [I'd have bought a few CDs, I suppose]

Simone Kermes is still my favorite Dido (from this incredible recording) and have wanted to explore more of her recordings...

With MI gone, it's good to see Octave taking up the slack, becoming officially GMG's delusional mass consumer  ;)  Somebody has to do it: keeps us amused.

Post it all at once, so we can bask in your lack of self-control. ;)

ETA: not that I should criticize. I've bought a ludicrous amount of music this year myself.

Coincident with your joining us....  hmmmm, wonder if there is anything to that. Nah!  :)

This appeared in my mailbox today.

BTW, transit times from the UK seem to have improved (knock on wood).   Orders from Presto and AmazonUK are now both routinely taking only one week to arrive.  This one was despatched on June 11.

Nice haul, Octave!

A word or two on that Zelenka when you get a chance please. . .

Wouldn't mind hearing about the Dolce Memoire set either (I am totally unfamiliar with this).

Thanks!

Hey, nice to see you posting again MI!
Wise words from Que:

Never waste a good reason for a purchase....  ;)

Octave: WOW. Not only is that part one of a big haul, but a GREAT haul. Skrowaczewski's marvelous Bruckner, the totally delightful Silvestri Icon box, Bavouzet's Debussy, Zelenka's masterful Missa Votiva (HIPster, I love that disc - excellent small choir, brilliant music), and I haven't heard Rautavaara's choral music but I bet it's fantastic. Wow. Can't wait to dampen your guilt by praising the rest.

Very nice haul.  I'd be interested in knowing what the Jurowski DSCH recordings are like.

I am somehow thinking that they sang the Zelenka here in Boston earlier this year.
