It's about self-control and knowing when enough is enough already.

We all know this.

We have all said it to ourselves many times before.

We always forget that and find fresh justification when we have to.

We all have.

And you more than most.

(Look who's talking...)
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

I've been curious about this composer for a while.

Yeah, I'm just trying to cut back some. I have so much to listen to right now. I'm never going to catch up! :)

I can see the panic look on your face when your pile is diminished! Ugh!

The problem is that I have more than one pile. :)

Buxtehude: MEMBRA JESU NOSTRI [Cantus Colln dir. Junghanel] (HM)
A recent comment got me thinking about this piece(s) again, and I like the Fasolis/Naxos so much, I think I need another.  I sampled this one and it sounded quite distinct.  Thanks for forum comments on the options.
Also been enjoying Buxtehude's organ music for the first time (Spang-Hanssen).

I made some progress in exploring options on this piece, and Junghänel is definitely still very much in the picture! :)

I found the (re)views of Johan van Veen particularly helpful, more HERE (search for "membra jesu nostri")

My last, final, no-more-to-follow order of this year:

Beethoven Complete Quartets (Vegh)

(There is a tiny tiny chance that I may place a very very small BRO order tomorrow...)

(BRO is updating right now, so that order may come today instead of tomorrow...)
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

I have just purchased today the Atterberg Symphonies, it will take a week to come from Germany but its a "Purchases Today"  So its here, now in this thread.

I also post in this thread when I get a cd ie today, not a Purchase Today, but a purchase last week, arrived today, but posted at the time of purchasing today, which was last week in the thread "Purchases Today".

I often daydream at work about the "Purchases Today" thread and who is looking after Benny from Crossroads.

The thread "What are you listening to" would win in a poll IMHO vs Purchases Today.

There are roughly 600 pages of "What are you listening to" and 150 pages of "Purchase Today," from which we can conclude that the typical CD get listened to 4 times before it is old news and a new one must be purchased.

I always say, "This will be my final purchase, until my next one."

Borodin: String quartets (St. Petersburg String Quartet)

I liked the samples and I liked the St. Petersburg String Quartet with the Tchaikovsky quartets, very passionate and expressive playing.

Don't know if it will ever arrive, I resisted volumes 5 to 7 on amazon.de on the basis my listening pile was growing not shrinking but will leave this order open in eternal hope.
