Quatuor Mosaïques & "Papa"? Don't think, just do it!

Did it. Thank you Karl, much appreciated.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

Downloading from eclassical.com.  I'm still waiting on the download.  Must be coming by individually wrapped packets over pneumatic tube from Sweden.

Bis is kind of retrograde in that the the bit depth is 24, but they still record at 44100 Hz.  But not all the time.  Sometimes they do record 96 kHz.  They will even mix them on the same albums.

Pounds the table! I wonder when this will be available for purchase?

Already, on eclassical. On CD, I'd expect it to be available in December. BIS lets people download stuff a month in advance.

Yeah, I know you're eager to hear that concerto. And your bias is, well, understandable. :)

Bias is mandatory. As Oscar Wilde puts it: "There are two ways to hate art. One is to hate it. The other is to love it rationally."

The latest MusicWeb review batch arrived and it looks like this:

[asin]B00EAH3HBS[/asin]
Tharaud's favorite encores, including a couple he already recorded for the Bach, Scarlatti, and Couperin albums. The review copy is just an envelope with the contents listed on the back.
[asin]B00DRFQA40[/asin]
Beethoven serenade and youthful flute sonata, plus Schubert's 'Trockne blumen' variations

Amazon lists this Wanderer Fantasy as a Naxos disc. Heh.

We've got another thread running at the moment where people are arguing vociferously that bias is wrong...

Considering the Holmboe fan that you are, I'm surprised you haven't yet heard the Four Symphonic Metamophoses, which I consider Holmboe's masterpieces! Anyways, nice haul there. Holmboe's music is outstanding!

Sweet! Can't wait until this is available on CD! I heard Minea on YouTube and it was freakin' awesome! Not that I was surprised, mind you. Aho's music is always of the highest quality.

I liked that disc a lot. And right now I'm whittling down my Recordings of the Year list for MusicWeb - the concertos album with the black-and-white cover is one of my finalists. We'll see if it makes the cut...

Yep, that concertos disc was certainly a highlight of my 2013 purchases. I'd be interested to see your list once you've finished whittling it down. Oh, believe me, I know how difficult whittling down lists can be! ;)

Just bought these three beauties:

From what I know, the only way you ever whittle is whittling up!

I am about to get on the Enescu bandwagon bigtime; I've really only spent time with his string quartets (Naxos) and a disc with the Octet and Piano Quintet (Kremer et al, Nonesuch), but I'll be waist-deep before year's end.  I think I like his sensibility and sound very much.

I liked the music on his BIRDS AND BELLS disc on ECM; it's been suggested to me by friends that this music (EG) is even better.
