Damn, this is a difficult one for me. I love Dvorak, Suk, Janacek, Martinu and Novak all pretty much equally.  Something's telling me I should vote for Suk, so I'll vote for him, but it pains me to make the others take a backseat. :-\ Anyways, let this bloody Czech war commence! :D Warning: Taras Bulba will be ferociously fighting for Janacek since he composed such a marvelous piece in his honor. ;)

North Star

Janacek, one of my absolute favourite composers, along with Ravel.
Martinu, Dvorak & Suk are all marvelous, too, though.

Martinu, but it sure is hard not picking Janacek.

I vote for Dvořák, he is one of my favourite composers. But I also love Janacek, Martinu, Novak and Smetana.

Janacek or Martinu, but since the latter has no chance to beat Dvorak, I'll go for Leos

Zdenek Fibich.

Oops! Forgot about him! I shall duly add Fibich to the poll. 8)

And perhaps Zelenka ought to be included, too.

Why is no one else voting for Suk? ??? Nah, that's okay, I feel pretty cool being the only one voting for him. 8)

I like Suk's music don't get me wrong but his music doesn't get under my skin and stay with me very long like Martinu's who's a composer I own a very large collection of recordings.

Todd

I do enjoy me some Czech composers, but Dvorak is so far ahead of all others, Janacek included, that it is not even close.

For the needs of this thread, Janáček and Zelenka.

Janáček, but Dvořák is really close. I've been listening to a lot of Janáček lately, and it's all marvelous. I love the Sinfonietta and "In the Mists."

springrite

Janacek, edging out Martinu, Dvorak and Suk.

I'd say the poll is missing Petr "The Czech Messiaen" Eben.

My picks? Martinů, Kabeláč & Zelenka.

And if I had to pick only one, it would be Kabeláč. His music had the most profound impact on me.
