Rooting for Teemu and the Finns right now!

Now now... 2:0 in the second. Can then hold on, or score more? Teemu is amazing!

I know how strange this may sound but, during the 0:5 loss, goalie Jonathan Quick was just about the best player for the US. It was as if as soon as the chance for gold is gone, the team decided to quit.

At least (I hope) they don't trash the hotel rooms like Chelios and co. did years ago. Then again, I do not think they'd dare to do so in Russia.

Good final Olympic appearance for Teemu!

Well, the Finns played great, the USA played poorly, so in the end, all got what they deserved. Congratulations to Finland on their excellent performance, and sorry you just got the Bronze when you should have been playing for the Gold!  :)

Congratulations to Finland on winning the Bronze medal.  The Finns played great, and it was great to see Selanne have an excellent game with 2 goals.

Team USA just looked tired and flat in that game.  Quick played very well, considering.

I'm very happy for Teemu and friends today. The USA deserved nothing with that effort. Hyvää Suomi!

Wonderful game indeed for Finland; a shame they weren't on the same level in the semifinal against Sweden. Oh well, Olympic bronze is nice enough, and what a way for Teemu to end his career in the national team, scoring two goals!

Canada 3-0

Gold!  :)

A great team effort throughout the tournament.  Allowing just 3 goals against in 6 games, and doing so playing a team attack and support style.  A bunch of superstars that played unselfishly.  Really proud to be a Canadian right now.  Double gold in hockey, and double gold in curling!

5 or 6 years ago, my men's curling team played against Kaitlyn Lawes, the 3rd on the Canadian women's curling team.  She was a junior player back then, preparing to play for the Junior Provincial and Junior National women's team.  Needless to say, we were just a 'club curling team', and they defeated us pretty easily.  :D

On style points, my favourite hockey jerseys were Finland's white jerseys, with the blue cross depicting their nation's flag.  Beautiful uniforms!  :)

How about the Dutch speed skating team?  24 medals, all of them in speed skating.  Absolutely mind-boggling and dominating!  :)

Canada certainly deserved that gold, great playing. Congrats!
Can't disagree on the jerseys, though I've always liked Canada's jerseys too - that red & white colour with the maple leaf is very indeed.
Of there's any justice in the world, Sweden will give their silver medals to Finland since Nicklas Bäckström used pseudoephedrine. :D
In 1974, Finland lost their hockey bronze since traces of ephedrine was found in a player's blood - they know now that it was because he'd eaten bananas.

My ideal finish would be Canada and Finland in the final (regardless of the result of the final) and Slovenia in bronze, that last of which would never happen, but it would have been great!

Yeah! :)

'We' were hoping for 12 medals or so .... but this result was beyond all dreams.

To be honest though, I was very disappointed with the (longtrack) speedskating performances of especially USA, Canada, Russia and Norway.

"Here are the changes in the overall medal totals of seven strong countries from the Vancouver games to Sochi (Vancouver total listed first)

Canada 26-25
Germany 30-19
Norway 23-26
USA 37-28
Netherlands 8-24
Russia 15-33
Austria 16-17

As you can see, Germany and the USA had the sharpest declines, while Russia improved dramatically and The Netherlands emerged as a new powerhouse. The Netherlands tripled its disappointing Vancouver total, while Russia more than doubled up on home snow and ice."

Congrats to Teemu but also to Tuuka Rask, down with the flu.

Yes, time for club fans to celebrate the medals. I believe we have Jeff Carter and Drew Daughty.
