I think that we all do that; it is standard practice really! I do it slightly differently though; I transfer everything asap [for security reasons] and then wait months to do the editing 

I  have my Nikon USB cord (now there's something to rant about) elsewhere at the moment, which is why I haven't transferred the photos (which I do usually daily). Nor do I usually wait months to edit the photos, although I do sometimes reinterpret them later. I need more HDD space to keep the raw files, though.

In the meanwhile, might as well look at these again

Very nice! Everything is sharply in focus, including the mountains in the background, but the variation in color from the bright yellow buoy to the green of the grass, grays of the rock, and blues of the netting, sky, and sea is gorgeous. Excellent composition!

I think it's Ireland, so it should be raining soon.

The photo was indeed taken on the west coast of Ireland and that was the summer's day!!
