My friend from Finland may well smile here but we do not get ice very often in out temperate climate and when we do it is a big deal for us

Hah! We certainly get enough ice every year. Not that that means it's not worth photographing. . .

Eventually. I don't have my camera USB cord at the moment so I have all photos from mid-Dec. onwards in the camera at the moment.  ::)  :-X

Yeah, good stuff.
In looking a little way back through the thread I notice you sometimes use look space and move space - I like to see that. And it's always good to have a lovely model, eh?
"You overestimate my power of attraction," he told her. "No, I don't," she replied sharply, "and neither do you".

In these types of shot I'm aware of looking for elements arranged in threes, because for my tastes it's a way of bringing the composition full circle. And these are scratching my itch nicely. Good work.

Sarge, is this the Mrs' little sister, or does she look 14 for some other reason (e.g. soft focus)?  Or are you just a cradle robber?  Or am I just completely confused again :-[

Karlo, I'm likin' the fish and the fork.
It's all good...

Yeah, my sister-in-law, Mrs. Rock's kid sister. She was actually 15 in that photo.

Here are the sisters, ages 14 and 22.

OK. That's good to know. You are still in cradle robbing territory, but I'm relieved to see you are on the right side of the law 8)

It adds a sense of mystery. It's like capturing a private moment.

And one who enjoys modeling. She was a natural, totally at ease in front of the camera.

Love the colors and composition. You really have a knack for turning the mundane into art.

Cheers. Seeking to apply the 'rule of thirds' (which is not quite what you're writing about, I know) is a slippery slope to generic blandness, though. I'll rather stick to elements and principals of design, and utilizing them as best fits each photograph.
I remember a teen-aged (amateur) photographer on Flickr commenting on some landscape of mine that 'he was taught to never place the horizon in the middle', and some grumbling about not 'following the rule of thirds' as if one could go to prison for that.  ::)

You're welcome.
I realise I'm probably preaching to the converted, but your reply shows your approach to a shot is one of honesty. For a number of reasons that's so valuable.
Anyway, at the ongoing risk of repeating myself, I'm having a thoroughly good time looking at all the work in this thread.
