The only thing I don't actually like about those covers is the background. It creates some kind of visual disconnect between the text and the art.

So basically, it hasn't occurred to you that the style you've seen on 70s movies posters and label as "70s movie poster style" might in fact just be a more general 70s style that was used on things other than movie posters.
