I blame myself for enabling him by watching Knight Rider in my youth.

Mind you, I blame all those people who made Baywatch the most popular show in the world even more.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

Forgive yourself; but know that there is a lesson in this: even as things seem [to the outside world] to be getting worse, they might be getting better [for you].  Peaking, even!  But maybe this is only true for tyrants and pop stars?

That Andreas Scholl cover is now going to pose problems in my relationship with the Herreweghe cantatas.  Cf. key moment w/Reese Witherspoon in the film ELECTION, "fill me up".  Who plans the marketing/packaging of these discs?  Austrians?

FWIW I remember someone at GMG or elsewhere (I can't remember who, though I remember it was someone whose taste I admired) listed that Scholl bonbon as a 'guilty pleasure', along with a disc of 'popular favorites' from the Fritz Wunderlich box I got recently.

This is more grotesque than tacky, actually a little bit fascinating.  Not owning the disc, I wonder what the connection is to the music?  "Enno Puppe"?

I think a pair of clock-hands attached to an appropriate anatomical feature would improve this cover.

I'm a Uchida fan, so lay off.  >:(   ;D

Anyway, I watched a live video of her last night. Man, she really gets into the music and, although it looks kind of strange, I believe her odd gesturing and the emotions that twist her face are no act.

Yes, I agree.

But are you suggesting that the one on Kimi's and my face on my avatar IS an ACT?

When I see video of her performing, particularly when she is writhing in apparent ecstasy during those Mozart slow movements, I can't stop myself from imagining that in leu of a page turner, she has an assistant crouching under the piano.  Ahem, maybe I should have posted this on the horror thread.

P.S., I'm also a big fan.

Excellent! I seem to like pianists from (ye olde?) Philips label.

I thought it was an Edvard Munch allusion . . . .

Could be. Who really knows the mind of Uchida?  :o

Take Scholl away wandering around like a village idiot and you'll got a nice cover imo.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Or use a better pic of Scholl and let someone French do the design chez Zigzag.

Indeed, the whole problem with that one is that Scholl and the background don't remotely look like they belong together.

I don't know....it looks like Scholl and his outfit don't quite belong together, either.  "Buster Bluth" comes to mind.  Maybe the people marketing the record wanted it to fail?  Maybe this is often the case.  It's a tempting explanation, because graphic designers aren't anywhere near as expensive as architects.  It's almost as though the worst people were hired for the job, intentionally.  "Market nihilism"

To me the Scholl cover has the look of a slightly demented children's show.

(Of course, in my experience, a children's show needs to be slightly demented to be good.)

It would have been much more aesthetically pleasing to having Roger facing front and Willie with his back turned.
