From Twitter

Die Journalisten müssen weiter auf die Entscheidung der #BerlinerPhilharmoniker warten: PK wurde auf 18:30 verschoben

Isn't 18:30 MEZ ten minutes ago?

It's been moved to 19:00 (at the earliest!) according to a couple German journalists I'm following in open Twitter tabs. NYTimes guy confirmed.

I'm hoping for Thielemann (despite his reported political baggage) I think he is the most prestigious and best conductor for their repertory.

for their repertory.

"Their repertory"? So, you think they should reduce their current repertory to match CT's?  ;)

No, I just meant the German book, in general.  Also I like underdogs.

Simone Young, Emmanuelle Haim, and Susanna Mälkki have all conducted the orchestra in recent seasons.

$10 bet gets you enough money to retire tomorrow. Hey, I'd do that bet...Susanna Malkki is pretty legit, after all.

Oh, if we're talking great conductors of the German book, and underdogs... Manfred Honeck!!

Aye aye! Teriffic conductor. And CT an underdog? Hardly. He's been one of the top three candidates all along.

Latest word out of Berlin: announcement 7:30 their time, 1:30 in NY. But is it safe to grab a sandwich?

Lots and lots of delays with this announcement, huh.

I'm predicting the repeated delays are due to a strong disagreement between the pro-CT and the anti-CT fractions. Because you're either pro or con, there is no middle ground with that guy. ;-)

Definitely. There was a photoshopped hoax announcement about Andris Nelsons, which managed to con Gramophone magazine and pianist Lang Lang.

No matter how it comes out I am impressed with the process of the orchestra members voting instead of an management executive decision.
