The Clone Wars
Seasons 3 & 4 (2010-12)

My daughter and I have been ploughing through Star Wars TV. These seasons have gotten noticeably darker and visually violent.

Watched the first two episodes. Off to a good start, even if it's not as good as the original series.

Jury Duty.  A modestly entertaining, refreshed take on the mockumentary/reality TV genre.  Small town Oregon guy (the beautiful town of Wallowa) Ronald Gladden becomes foreman of a jury for a fake trial where everyone is a bit actor, save for modestly famous James Marsden, who plays a version of himself.  There are shenanigans aplenty.

Seriously retro: "Head of the Family," Carl Reiner's pilot for what would become The Dick Van Dyke Show, with Reiner himself playing Rob Petrie.

Devil's Hour.

Two episodes left, and we're not asking, 'How is this going to end?' but rather: 'What is going on?'

I know a second and third series have been ordered, which would normally be a good thing except now it just makes me wonder how long we have to wait to understand what it's all about.

If episode six answers some questions, even if it raises new ones, we'll be happy. But if it doesn't, meaning that they intend to wait until the end of the whole series before revealing anything, I think we'll be frustrated, especially given how long we'll have to wait for new episodes.

I finished season 3 of Shetland and started season 4.

I've started watching Father Brown and Jonathan Creek.  On that last show they use Saint Saens for the theme and man I love it!

Two more things - I keep thinking Roscoe is the actor who plays Ruth in Ozark.

And I feel Reacher's ability to seemingly know everything and rattle it off quickly and calmly is a Saturday Night Live skit waiting to happen.  ;D

Jonathan Creek is loads of fun! Father Brown could be (could have been?) but the breezy fun tone of most of the episode is often brought down by a really melodramatic climax.

Okay, this was really good.

More travel TV in the form of Tulsa King.  Stallone's first foray into TV finds the aged tough guy actor playing a mobster who gets released from prison after a quarter century who then gets sent to Tulsa to drum up money.  A couple familiar B-listers join him, and the first five episodes are enjoyable enough. When Sly tries to emote, it's cringey, but when he talks smart and gives beatdowns, it works well enough.  Producer Taylor Sheridan is on a roll, and he wisely pays homage to SOA with his inclusion of an American-Irish biker gang.  Also, he wisely used Oklahoma for some of the filming.  I've only visited OKC and the stretch down to the Red River, but that section of the state is mesmerizingly beautiful.  It's much better to avoid I35 and go US77, US377, or US75 when visiting the southern part of the state.  I suspect Tulsa and the surrounding area have some of the same vibe.

75 has gotten cluttered up with casinos and casino billboards of late, but otherwise agreed. Have you seen Reservation Dogs? It makes great use of the landscape (even before you get to the episode with the fish orgy in the middle of the forest).

That Choctaw Casino in Durant is something to see.  It dwarfs the casinos in Oregon and Washington.  I find the casino billboards less distracting than the incessant law firm billboards in the metroplex.  I haven't watched Reservation Dogs yet, but I will at some point.

The Clone Wars
Seasons 5-7 (2012-2014) (2020)

Finished this series off. The last three seasons moved from Cartoon Network, to Netflix with its first series conclusion, to Disney+ with another series conclusion six years later.

We have a whole lot of car wrecks to litigate!

Res Dogs has been one of my favorite shows the past year or so. The final season begins next month so it will soon be wrapped up.

I used to live in Oklahoma.  It is definitely different.  Wild how you can leave a city and then there is just nothing but landscape for miles and miles.  I live in South Carolina now.  Most people would categorize both as rural fly over states.  But there is sprawl here and towns not far apart.  Not at all like Oklahoma which really focuses the populations into the cities.
