For absolutely no discernible reason, I woke up with In A Gadda Da Vida on my mind.  Went with a shorter, quicker remake.

Fans have waited 32 years for a new Coroner album. They did not disappoint. Some fans complained that's not as relentlessly fast and brutal as their earlier albums, but it has enough of those elements plus a bit more progressive metal parts for me.

Need to get in the writing zone tomorrow, so here is some of my line-up:

Christopher Hamilton's Euthermia
Cree Confederation's Medicine Horse
Ela Minus's DIA
Luke Sanger's Salt Water Motifs
Meg Mulhearn's Let It Burn Through The Night
Mercy Girl's Various
Northern Cree's Oskimacitahowin
QRTR's ONDAS
Radiohead's KID A MNESIA
The Caretaker's Everywhere at the end of time
The YellowHeads's Various

I am beyond hyped. Gotta get a good night's rest though to truly be able to appreciate all this awesomeness! 8)

I saw this tour. Their 38 ton quadraphonic sound system rendered me hard of hearing for 4-5 days, but it was a mind-blowing performance!

Esquivel! - More of Other Words, Other Sounds

I watched recently a Youtube video about the music genre named space age pop that was a thing from the late 50s into the early 60s. The video suggests the master of this genre was Juan Garcia Esquivel or Esquivel!. This is fun, colourful, silly music that makes me smile if not anything else. Muzak that was a thing a decade or so later is kind of a calmer, more relaxed version of space age pop. Space age pop was a child of the early days of stereophony and that means wild ping pong stereo sound. This album by Esquivel! is listenable with headphones to me thanks to heavy crossfeed I can apply, but the soundstage is empty in the middle. Everything is on the left or right. This kind of stereophony is actually malpractise, but it is what it is and even part of the signature sound of the genre. Henry Mancini was another artist of this genre and indeed the music for the Pink Panther movies is very much space age pop. The theme music for the original Star Trek is also much of this style and why wouldn't it be?

I have a repackaging of several of his albums. I both like it and dislike it at the same time.
