QuoteSo, we deserve to be invaded by Islam??

I hope so. It's what made this country what it is that we deserve to be the first choice, not the last resort.

When I was still working I worked among immigrants from several countries. I might have been someone who resented and feared the immigrants as people who shrunk my paycheck or threatened my job. But I couldn't be that someone and be me. It didn't matter whether the scapegoaters were contra the "sheeple" or were wooly themselves. I had my own ideas about who might be setting policy, who might benefit and critically what might come in the way of unintended consequences.

Also, a me type thing is to adopt a "view from nowhere" stance. Maybe a flawed immigration policy had a whole spectrum of effects. Maybe we could address negative consequences of high levels of immigration while getting the good stuff. If we favored economic growth instead of trying to squelch it, and built things we're supposed to be building anyway, people wouldn't be so worried about their falling standard of living because it wouldn't be falling. Maybe they'd be less inclined to turn fear into hate, to pick on people weaker than them.

This Islam Hate is the biggest load of malarky I've ever witnessed.

What do you care what anyone's religion is?  Oh, yeah, I keep forgetting:  "All Muslims are terrorists!"

Headline: [El Tupé] calls mayor of shrinking Chesapeake island and tells him not to worry about it

Just as a point of information, snypsss . . . do criticism and question of El Tupé qualify as "TRUMP HATE"?  Just trying to get a sense of how broad the brush is you like to swing around . . . .

Trump Is Too Late to Stop the Windmills

IOW Solyndra won. What I mean by that is that taking the kind of shotgun approach to invest in a variety of new energy initiatives essentially picks winning more than it picks winners. Obama used the opportunity presented by the financial crisis,  which required countercyclical spending, to do critical investment via a green energy subsidy program. In a shotgun approach to public investment you aim at the goal with the idea that the winning pellets pay the freight for the ones that miss. There's nothing new about this way of doing things, it's just different from building something like a dam or an airport or a harbor where new tech is inside the project as a component of it.

History will judge how successful the Obama energy initiative was in its entirety and the Solyndra part will be seen as instructive in a way that encompasses its flaws and even the politics affecting the decisions. Just because we don't focus much on Hoover Dam politics doesn't mean there were none. Who got bribed to build the Erie Canal? I'd like to know more about it, or have someone know more about it for me.

I suppose you could try to make the case that green energy sprouted from Zeus's head. I think costs fall more because initial costs are met than because they are not. The answer to high costs for new energy is to pay the initial costs now so future costs will be lower faster. That's how it's supposed to work, so it was no surprise to me that it did work that way.

No one can say now how much green energy policy contributed to its future predominance because the future hasn't happened yet, only some of it, the basis for my victory claim. I don't think people will take down the windmills and solar panels because coal or Trump's love of it.

Dems wasted no time politicizing today's attempted assassination of multiple Republicans by a Bernie Bro.  The Governor of the Commonwealth of Virgina, Clinonista Terry McAuliffe stated boldly, twice, that 93 million Americans are lost every day to gun violence.  Dems is sooper smart.  (I'm sure when such an august gentleman as the right honorable Mr McAuliffe states something so stoopid it's just an innocent misstatement, though, amiright?)

ONE FLIPPIN YEAR AGO-----ONE FLIPPIN YEAR....... NONE OF YOUSE HAD SHIT TO SAY ABOUT TRUMP CUZ HE WAS NOTHING TO YOU.

NOW??????

I wasn't here a year ago, and I wouldn't have said anything in a politics thread because I considered Trump far from legitimacy, but I certainly took notice of him back when he was pushing the "birther" conspiracies, and criticized him then too.  When he made his first campaign speech in 2015, I took note immediately; he seemed like a bad joke.

Actually, a year ago:

El Tupé was not hijacked, he is leading in the ugliness full willing.

Yes, indeed:  The Year of the Flawed Candidate. If Hillary wins, it can only be because the G.O.P. chose El Tupé.  And all the G.O.P. establishment are embracing the presumptive nominee too thoroughly, not to conclude that they have choice in the matter.

snypsss, you so seldom know what you're talking about here . . . do your research, man.

OK, sorry, a year and a half... ok, research done, apology made, now I'm RIGHT AGAIN,- see how that works? You know full well you didn't have a though of him before "a certain time", - you know full well to give me the fuzziness I deserve...

Research??? pfffffff.... Pure Will, Baby, ...pure will...

We ALWAYS knew Hilldawg was gonna run... I'm sure we were all "shocked, schocked I tell you" when Trump entered the fray.

If someone wants to simply pay me the most reasonable sum of $350 a week, I will surely spend every waking moment getting to the bottom of all these things and reporting all manner of research- such as whether your tympani rolls were fluid enough, for instance ;)

Of course of course, Karl, now show me where you criticized Barry for ANYTHING EVER.

Hey, remember when Barry became prez, and all the white racists lynched blacks all over the country, and Dems were being beaten to a pulp at townhalls, and the GOP denied Barry ANY of his agenda, and the colleges and universities were burning crosses every weekend, and whites were running around with "not my n****" t-shits, and, and , and.....

Remember all that?? That was such a hard time to live through, and I can't believe it was just a few years ago... mm mm mm...

NOTICED THE SHOOTING HASN'T YET MADE IT HERE----- I suppose had the guy been a Trumpist and shot a bunch of asylum seekers it would be all over GMG. But, no, because a gun-hating Socialist Bernie supporter shoots up a bunch of "nazis", hey, that's the new paradigm.,.. can you dig it?
