Look, I'm a thinky tanky economist! Shut it down, shut it down!

     1) The shutdown means the government is spending less into the economy than it had been, leaving more money for the private sector from the fixed amount the tree provides.

     2) A bonus is that taxes will be cut by the surefire method of shrinking the economy. There will be rejoicing.

I would even give up my right to vote if the nanny state or the gynocracy can be stopped.
https://www.conservativezone.com/articles/3-things-you-need-to-know-about-kamala-harris/

#1: She Pushed to have Parents Arrested
While Sen. Harris worked as a California District Attorney, she advocated for legislation that compelled law enforcement officials to arrest and prosecute parents of chronically truant children. Low-income families and those with disabilities rank among the demographics that have difficulty keeping food on the table and kids in school. Harris had little sympathy or a solution to help these parents.

#2: She Pushed to Allow Government to Seize Homes
The former California A.G. backed legislation that would open the door for prosecutors to take away homes, cars, assets, and money just because a person was charged with a crime. She wanted prosecutors to have the discretion of seizing accused citizens' assets based on the "substantial probability" they would be found guilty. Yes, the government and not a jury of your peers would decide when to take your home away.

#3: She Supports Violent Illegal Immigrant Criminals over Americans
While working as San Francisco's attorney general, Harris garnered far-left support by creating the "Back on Track" program. This may sound upside down to everyday Americans, but the program used $750,000 in taxpayer money to help keep illegal immigrants out of jail and get them jobs they could not hold legally.

Left Dems don't support Harris, even if they unify behind her as a lesser evil. Oddly, their nonsupport is based on your first 2 points. As for "Back On Track" I would observe that programs of the like are not designed to help violent criminals because a person in the program committed a violent crime. Similarly I wouldn't call for an overhaul of the tax system because a baby eater got a refund.

As for helping migrants get jobs, I'm way in favor of it. It's up to us how "illegal" our workforce is, not up to them. I don't want open borders except to the extent we open them by choice for purposes we have. We should stop turning an advantage into a crisis because haters gotta hate.

Border Wall Is Out of Sync With the Southwest's Changing Politics

The wall won't be built. A factor, in addition to the lack of reasons to prefer the wall to effective border security, is that when you get close to the Amerexican border you find that people there don't want the wall. The ties on both sides of the border are too strong for a number of reasons. Even the notional border we have is too much for them, and though I don't give them a veto over the national interest I judge their own preference should carry some weight. Oh, and it will.

As for the Cohen matter, former prosecutor Joyce Vance White said, "Whether technically the crime of intimidation or not, it's unacceptable conduct for a president. Any effort by Trump to delay or deter Cohen's testimony before the House by suggesting his family could be put at risk while Cohen is in prison should be beneath the dignity of a president, to say nothing of being a gross abuse of the criminal justice system." The same could be said of Trump's other public actions (such as hinting at pardons for witnesses). "It's no less wrong when the crime is committed in daylight than when it takes place in the shadows," White said. Congress and voters should take note.

A U.S. judge will weigh whether the former Trump campaign chairman breached his plea agreement by lying repeatedly to prosecutors in the special counsel probe of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election.

This inning goes to the Democrats

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-announces-deal-for-government-to-reopen-for-three-weeks-ending-longest-shutdown-no-money-for-his-border-wall/

Actually, it goes to all, even the 30% too stupid to know what's good for them. Rewarding a president using a shutdown to dodge legislative process would be a horrible precedent. The Dems should never come to the table under such a threat, no matter what the terms.

Karl Henning

Trump said in the Rose Garden that he was "proud" to announce that a deal had been reached, though it was nothing more than a capitulation. The president agreed to reopen the government for three weeks, making a vague (and now, more than ever, empty) threat to declare an emergency if money for the wall was not included in a. He then launched into a harangue of the type that has not in many of his speeches shifted public opinion. "We really have no choice but to build a powerful wall or steel barrier," Trump insisted. He rambled on

Of course you don't care what Kyle Kulinski says. You are a concervative and you don't want some lefty pointing out the bubble you are living in.

Even when proven wrong, the media simply won't give up but this is far worse than trying to smear grown men like Pence or Kavanaugh.  THEY ARE KIDS DAMMIT AND THEY DID NOTHING WRONG. In fact, they showed restraint and fortitude, which is more one can say for their elders. There may be hope for the future indeed if this is the new crop.  Bye, bye, Baby Boomers!
These kids are totally lacking in discipline and respect. Children should be seen and not heard. That said, the media did a number on them and leftists saw what they wanted to see. I personally believe magaheads are idiots but that's no justification for public firing squad. The Nathan Phillips guy appears to be a bit untrustworthy. Still, kids jumping around, making tomahawk chops and acting loud and rowdy should be disciplined. Spare the rod spoil the child! (ok, I'm being a little sarcastic. But, they did act like the kids I hated the most in my high school. A little disciplining wouldn't hurt.

Gabbard criticized Israel for some things but she's been very hawkish on, and supportive of, Israel otherwise. She opposes BDS, for example. You are criticizing the NYTimes specifically for being too pro-Israel?
She supports Modi too - who has a terrible/criminal human rights record.

I like Franken and dislike Gillibrand as a candidate but he had multiple woman accusing him. Many actually. Why do you consider groping nothing?

What are Warren's pro-establishment positions? She's been very good when questioning bankers and CEOs, very tough, knowledgeable and blue-collar. That's not her weakness. It's her image that's been tarnished by other things.

I don't know about Harris's personality. I also am skeptical she can appeal but it's not exactly because she has no personality. If anything, her personality might be too strong or strident, while her background is maybe too mainstream.
"Undermined by inefficacy of the Obama years"? Don't we have the longest post-recovery on record? I think he's in the normal range of presidents. Where is the evidence that Obama has anything to do with her weaknesses?
Or this is just your comedic take on things? I also think these candidates have big weaknesses but your scornfulness and derisiveness makes it hard to take your points too seriously.

...no, this is my sincere take on things. See this tweet. Why are establishment media outlets so afraid of Tulsi Gabbard? Because of what I said in my previous post -- her telegenic appeal + her appeal to Bernie types!

Children should be seen and not heard.

I disagree with this. In fact, my kids being heard is among my parental goals. But another such goal is for my kids to know better than to say — or to believe — that "it's not rape if you enjoy it."

The complaints about news media that lead with "establishment" almost never want to move up the credibility scale but down, as though the cure for bias and sensationalism is ludicrously comical bias and standards abandoned entirely. You can't violate a standard you don't have, if you have standards you will be embarrassed by not living up to them. That's a very good thing.
