OK. I thought that you had a box set, but perhaps it doesn't extend beyond Abacab?

Correct! The 1976-1982 box includes:

  • A Trick of the Tail
  • Wind and Wuthering
  • ... and then there were three
  • Duke
  • Abacab

Karl, with all that early prog you've been playing, surely you like these guys too?  1970:

Good stuff there, Russell.

I can't workout to classical, so this goes on the iPod for that purpose.

I probably have a special seat reserved for me in metal hell for my favourite song on this being Fever.

Heh. It's a good song. "Chains" reserves my seat.  >:D

You two simply prove the notion that the whole album is great. Well, Pain and Pleasure is debatable I guess (even that is quite listenable, really).

I think you knew this but, song for song, Priest is my favorite heavy band. They had the riffs, baby.

Perhaps I should check out an album. I have always loved "You've got another thing comin'." They got a whole album like that?

Plus, you can't get much more heavier than Rob Halford's voice. The guy was like a demonic Ian Gillan.

That's the one we're discussing: Screaming for Vengeance. Also try British Steel.

Screaming For Vengeance is overall a bit heavier than that song (though that's a mighty good one). You haven't heard Heavy Metal until you hear The Hellion/Electric Eye. You might like their earlier stuff even better, early Judas Priest sounded a bit like a super-heavy Queen at times (Halford had a Mercury fixation). "British Steel" is more commercialized, but in a cool way ("Living After Midnight").

I don't think you're particularly big Metal fan, George, but those albums are definitely worth checking out, even if you're more into Rock and a little Hard Rock, there are great songs. I could name a bunch of their albums that are often really rewarding.

Judas Priest, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Dio, Manowar, Michael Schenker Group...they're my favorites (you knew that).

For heavier bands, besides Priest, I like Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Van Halen, Ted Nugent, Grand Magus and early Aerosmith.
