Classic Incredibles albums are:

The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion
The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter
Wee Tam
The Big Huge
Changing Horses

The albums contain long, rambling autobiographical songs but I like them. I especially like the musicianship. Now that I think about it, perhaps they are just musicians' musicians as they say.
Disclaimer notice: I am an ageing hippy after all  8)

However, if you really do want to test your mettle, I would recommend that you start with The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion because that contains the only two songs that you might possibly have ever heard of from in their entire discography.  ;D

Cool, thank you.

No such time as the present  ???

I can smell the patchouli from here...  :o :P

No interference at all, my laptop struggles with flash I'm afraid. Just to say I agree completely about PG, a very talented musician whose music often seems to have something of the 'Es muss sein' about it.

Cheers. I think that Green not merely understood but lived the Blues. May he Rest In Peace.

I want your honest opinion and remember, I have heard it all before  ;D
Did you recognize any songs? Perhaps you are too young, which is good for you  ;D

Erm, very much of its time let's say  ;) Some of the tracks are a bit too "eccentric" for my liking but the side notes mentioned it was one of their most daring albums anyway. The fact it was produced by Joe Boyd and the bass played by Danny Thomson picked my interest though as it is the same combo that worked on some Nick Drake albums. Did enjoy and saved some tracks though: "The first girl I loved", "Little Cloud", "Blues for the muse".

Some of the intricate guitar playing made me think of Bert Jansch at times for some reason.

Will have a listen to the other albums you advised during the week.

Well at least you had the staying power to hear it through. You have my admiration for that even if you are being a bit circumspect. Hence the ageing Hippy reference above  8)

Not a bad analogy there  ;)

Do you really have the valuable time to spare?  ;D

That's the one album of theirs that I have. I enjoy it, but I have a high tolerance for eccentricity.

You know, I've never heard that album Jeffrey.  I see that it was released after her long absence from music; all of the recordings which I do own of hers are from the pre-break era.  Think that I have all of them?  Do you have any of those?  And, if so, any favorites?

Apart from 'Ariel', which is actually a double album I have the Hounds of Love and The Red Shoes. I like all of these ones:
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

You've given me an idea Jeffrey, I have a male friend who is a serious Kate Bush fan (chasing down her LPs including ones from different countries).  I'll ask him whether or not I might borrow Ariel.   ;D

Hounds of Love is one my favorites of hers.  I also own:

Aspects of the Sensual World
The Dreaming
Hounds of Love
Love and Anger
Never for Ever
The Sensual World (special EP)
The Sensual World
and...The Red Shoes (hadn't listened to that in ages so now have it on)

Besides Ariel, not certain what else I might be missing?

Best wishes and stay cool,

PD

p.s.  Also, ages ago, I purchased a special (probably bootleg) album of her early homemade recordings or demos.

You're missing Lionheart?
Thanks!  My friend came over last night for burgers and a movie and brought over Aerial.  I believe that he said that there were three other ones?  I suspect that I passed on buying it originally due to comments from co-workers at the time, but will try and borrow those ones later from him.

And to give you an idea of how big of a fan he is of Ms. Bush, when I asked him whether or not he had something, he asked "Which format?" and then pulled it out!

So, Simon, do you have all of her LPs and/or CDs (or downloads these days)?
