Not one of my favorite Miles recordings but the title track makes up for the rest of the album. Billy Boy was a nice showcase for his trio though. I love Red Garland!

I should check that out, I need to get more adventurous with my Miles listening, I only have Live Evil and Kind of Blue.

An amazingly creative musician. He really demanded a lot of his players, and we listeners reap the benefits. It's so advanced, particularly from the playing perspective, as to be freaked out.

Part of the driver which motivated me at last to check out Return to Forever, was hearing Corea's work on In a Slilent Way and Bitches' Brew.

(Actually, I'm not sure there's an apostrophe in that latter album title. But there ought to be.)

Return to Forever's Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy has long been a favorite ... I don't care much for what came after from the band (after Bill Connors left), and even better than RTF is Weather Report (albums: Heavy Weather, Black Market, Tail Spinnin', Mr. Gone & Night Passage) & Mahavishnu Orchestra (albums: Birds of Fire, Between Nothingness & Eternity, Apocalypse, Visions of the Emerald Beyond). Great, great bands, playing & compositions!

Weather Report is stunning. Shoot, Jaco Pastorius by himself is scary great.
