Are there any marijuana enthusiasts at GMG?

Wouldn't call myself an enthusiast, but dabbled with it in the past quite a bit.
I suffer from severe sleep apnea nowadays and have read a recent article that says THC could lessen the effects of sleep apnea.

Sure, I smoke it, but only when I listen to Stockhausen's music, which is the only way to listen to his music, because it certainly doesn't do anything for me when I'm mentally present. :)

I don't use it but I'm enthusiastic about something, maybe that. It seems to be very good for older people who suffer from a variety of pains and diseases. I know such people.

I've smoked a bit of a pipe one time and it made me sick.

I love listening to my favorite music when consuming a sativa-dominant strain.

Wished I lived in a legal-cannabis state as I would be able to freely and reliably experiment with different strains. It's been my experience that some strains heighten my awareness, sensitivity, and appreciation.

Please don't, it's all bad news. Maybe not in the short term you'll experience the negative effects, but there are nasty substances from cannabis that accumulate in the liver and are difficult to metabolize.

Drugs suck. Contemporary classical avant garde music gives a better and lasting effect. ;)

Personally speaking, I'm against any kind of drug abuse, but as drogulus pointed out, I can see the benefit for someone who is terminally ill who is trying to ease the pain. But smoking weed as a recreational activity isn't my idea of a 'good time.'

I have no regard for the neo-Puritanism of "It's OK to smoke pot for terminal cancer". Fuck the slippery slope, pot and derivatives are for glaucoma, arthritis and a variety of other common afflictions.

I used to hang out on a stoner forum--just for the music chat, y'know.

We should all have the right to partake of cannabis as we have the right to partake of that much more dangerous and deadly drug alcohol.  8)

So far so good with medically prescribed benzodiazepines.

Woot woot. At last, a majority of Republicans (51%) favor legalizing cannabis.   >:D

QuoteFifty-one percent of Republicans surveyed by Gallup this month said they support legalization, up sharply from 42 percent a year ago. Even larger majorities of independents (67 percent) and Democrats (72 percent) are in favor of legal marijuana.

Back in my university years (some 40 years ago) smoking pot was the in thing. THC concentrations in those days were only a fraction of what they are now. And yet I distinctly recall some bizarre experiences (such as listening to the Vieuxtemps 4th concerto and freaking out at the pyrotechnics in the scherzo - almost an out of body experience). At another occasion I drove for a long stretch on a sinuous seaside road, going into a panic at every sharp turn, roller coaster-style. It was pitch dark. My guardian angel worked overtime for me that night. I stopped when I was 23. For many, many years after quitting, I could still « smell » weed in my head. It would flash just like that.

Decriminalization is the right thing if only because it takes the market off organized crime's hands and will sharply lower court cases and prison sentences (that's the idea, anyway). But it's still a potentially harmful substance. Two of my young nephews (17 and 19) have smoked heavily since their early teens. Bad, bad decision. They fried their brains. If smoking, try to do it in a secure environment and under supervision. Never drive or work when under the influence.

I don't regret my youth. It was lots of fun. I've just been very lucky.

Too bad US isn't a real democracy. Big Pharma doesn't want cannabis legalized, so it won't be as long as corporates are in power.

END THE FAILED WAR ON DRUGS.

The goal is legalization, taxation, and regulation. Prohibition only makes drug cartels more powerful, increases crime, and makes drugs more dangerous due to lack of enforced safety standards. What you put in your body is your own business, and your right. A free society should allow individuals to make their own choices about their bodies. While most users are recreational and moderate, rehabilitation and treatment should be provided for people struggling with addiction. Additionally, those serving time for non-violent drug offenses should be pardoned.
