What about Chopin's Etudes and Godowsky's 53 Studies of the Etudes? Can I assume that the Etudes are split in two by their opus numbers (which leaves three out)? Can I equally assume that the Godowsky is basically one piece for the purposes of this?

If this means the Chopin Etudes, it would never occur to me to consider the 3 separate groups of etudes as a single work. I very much doubt it would ever occur to Chopin, either.

Well, it would be nice to put the etudes all together, but as they were published at different times, with different opus numbers, it wasn't clear to me if they should be separated.

Op. 10, Op. 25 and Trois nouvelles etudes. Afaic they are clearly three different works.

Why would it be nice to put them all together? Just because pianists like recording them all together so that they can say "complete etudes" on the cover?

There are any number of cases where works are frequently presented together on albums because, among other things, they make a nice CD-length chunk of music. But that's no basis for grouping works here.

This morning I had to choose between nominating Rachmaninoff's Op. 33 and sending Chopin and Liszt into the final. I chose the latter. Tomorrow will be another day.

Anyway, when I suggested the solo keyboard I was sure that the game will be much livelier than the other ones and that the selection phase will be a long and heated one. Think about it: 4 pages already and only 3 selections. :D

What you call "heated", I consider "cluttered".  There have been times in this game when I've felt like taking what's left of my marbles and going home.  The game is for fun and light entertainment.  It isn't a document being prepared for academic review.  If this heat/clutter continues, I'll take the list and rearrange it exactly as I would want it if I was playing alone.

I have little to do with posting in non-game threads on this site as well as other sites.  The reason is that I don't want the string of discussion/debate/argument.  Actually, that's why I started developing and running games.

I have no idea what you mean by "cluttered" in the context of this game. Also, seems you're a bit angry. Why?  ???

First, many thanks for taking the time to do this!

I think the "cluttering" is simply the nature of GMG: we have a good number of people with "non-mainstream" taste, who have found great enjoyment in works forgotten or barely known, and want others to have a taste of what enthuses them.

e.g. I apparently need to find out more about Mompou to discover if I am missing anything of value to me.  8)   0:)

And many thanks to all for the nominations!

To me, "cluttered" refers to postings that do not advance game progression.  This very posting I'm doing now is clutter.

As for the angry bit, I feel I already gave my reasons.

I do need to offer a little apology.  My wife and I have a lot of company this week, and I'm doing the best I can to be a good host while staying current with the games I run.  Well, maybe I haven't been doing my best; I can do better.  When I feel overloaded, I tend to target and strike; it's the Scorpio in me.

I continue to feel that this is going to be a great game - fantastic music and good people with tons of knowledge!
