No info, all emails get returned (which I suspect may have to do with their Whole system having crashed).

Still, they should have been able to put up a simple information page at their domaine.

See the sticky topic about online stores - seems they are gone and not just down.

I read somewhere that they are insolvent and being liquidated. So I guess they are done...

Wow, color me surprised. I just dropped US $200 at MDT back in October - they were offering MDG SACDs for $11.75 each, a label hard to find for under $20 in the US, and I scooped up four of the new Erato box sets at bargain-bin prices (e.g. Lubimov/Mozart 6 CDs for $11).

MDT was always the bargain-basement company - they typically undercut Presto by a tiny margin, like 2-3%, and often had stuff ImportCDs didn't - so I am quite sad to hear that they are goners. On the other hand, they had a far less personal touch than Presto does (hi Paul! I also ordered from you in October!) and the new website was an absolute disaster - after months and months, they still had not implemented a currency conversion button.

I used to order regularly from crotchet.co.uk. One day I got an email that they were moving to an improved web site. I looked at it, and it seemed worse than the old one. My username, shopping cart, order history were cleared out and I was informed I had to re-register. I never re-registered, or looked at their site again. Then, some time later, I read they were out of business. I wonder why?

Similar story here, I suspect.

That's sad. But I'm not surprised given that almost everything they sell is to be found on-line...
I used mdt to find out about new releases. I guess from now on I will have to rely on PRESTO who are still in business:

I only did business once with MDT.co.uk, but they were excellent. It was when the Boulez "Complete Works" on DG came out, and their price was the best I found. When it arrived, it turned out my set included CD 5 twice, but not CD 10 (or whatever the numbers were). I wrote to them and within less than a week the missing CD was in my mailbox. Sorry to see them go (but can't say I was a recurring customer in any way  :-[)

There is still Europadisc for new releases...

Thanks! I have bookmarked the website and will try to have a look at the Febrauary new releases when I have the time.

Very sorry to hear of their demise.  I have ordered from them a number of times in the past (though not lately).

Really bad news - I used them more than any outlet. Always very helpful.

Me too. My prime source, switching to presto and crossing fingers for them.

This is a big blow to us in the states that couldn't easily get European market only Naxos CDs  :-[

Brian

If they didn't have time to do a liquidation sale, the creditors were likely either CD distributors whom they never paid back for product or someone like the landlord.

I agree.  By the way, how does one add/make a "Plus one" on this website?  I can't figure it out.

Best,

PD

Presto is probably wise to have gotten into downloading.  MDT did not

Same here. At one time I ordered quite a lot from them. I found them very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

I'm sorry the procedure is as prosaic as type "+1".  :)

Damn! Been using them for years, on and off. By far the best.
