Chotose Okashiro's transcription of Tchaikovsky's 6th symphony. It certainly is a strange experience to hear such familiar music presented in an unexpected way.

J.S. Bach.
Complete Cantatas.
Volume 23.
No. 10/93/178/107.
Bach Collegium Japan, Masaaki Suzuki.

Suzuki added another counter tenor, (Matthew White) which I never heard of, so maybe a good add, who knows, always a surprise with this ensemble, and lets be honest after Mera, Suzuki's choices were never a match to Mera's excellence. Yukari Nonoshita, seemed a bit stressed in Cantata No. 10 in the aria "Herr der du stark, und machtig bist". First time I heard from her such slips in intonation. In the same Cantata there is a Duetto e Chorale for Counter and Tenor, "Er denket der Barmherzigkeit", good voice this counter. In Cantata No. 93, there is another Duetto between Soprano and Counter, "Er kennt die rechten Freudesstunden" also well done. That's a relief.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

A Bach cantata a day, keeps the doctor away.  8)

That's a good motto Que, I seem to remember you once saying that the days of every day a Bach cantata were over. :)
Which cantata did you choose for today?

Heinrich Scheidemann.
Organ Works.
Organ Works from the North German Baroque, Volume XV.
Complete Preludes & Fugues.
Choral settings. (Selection)
Friedhelm Flamme, Organ.
Instrument: Fritzsche/Treutmann organ, 1727-28) Castle Church of the St. Levin, Harbke.
All of Fritzsches stops were reused and the historical pipework from his time.
Pitch: Chorton a Semitone higher than present day concert Pitch.
Temperament: Modified meantone.

A small Organ but with a fine voice, perfectly restored, this valuable organ is a gem among great organs. The Preludes and Fugues sound ravishing, and Flamme knows what he is doing. He never overstates the music, but gives precedence to projecting all the colours this organ has, without pressing his personality on the interpretation. A real gem. Scheidemann belonged to the small group of outstanding organ composers, and deserves this place! His style encompasses many stadia, but connoisseurs well know this. No need for me to explain. The recording is top-notch.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Good day to you.  :)

And a good day to you Fergus,I trust that you will appeciate these recordings.

I am not an organ specialist but I hear what I hear and it is clear and convincing that these recordings are among the best available.
Unfortunately it is no longer available. Some organists are more famous but don't let that mislead you, this is Bach in the most ultimate way. Beekman has a less fiery approach but once you have reconciled with that you will discover that there are two gates to the organ heaven. :)
If I had to choose between the two I would go for Beekman but luckily I can enjoy these two great sets. (and the many others I have)

Mozart: Symphony No. 38 "Prague" [Hogwood]

Hogwood infuses the opening Adagio section of the first movement with copious amounts of both drama and tension. The transition to the Allegro section is thrilling. It is electric in its pacing and it is very fresh and crisp and well driven. The beauty in the music really shines through here. This is thrilling music making.
The slow movement is very refined in this wonderfully lyrical music. The music making is wonderfully soothing in its delivery here.
This version of the final movement is, once again, thrilling and electric in its presentation. There is terrific energy and drive in the direction; it is quite powerful and relentless. It is quite wonderful!

The quality of the orchestration is quite palpable throughout this very transparent presentation.

I am absolutely not an organ expert but I know what I like to hear in that department and I very much like the limited amount of what I have heard so far from Kooiman. I really look forward with excitement to hearing the rest of this series.
Thank you for your helpful comments, Jan.  :)

Ruth Gipps.
Orchestral Works II.
BBC Philharmonic, Rumon Gamba.

Drop dead gorgeous, what a magnificent achievement this recording is. Goes straight into my list of best recordings 2022, number one. State of the Art recording, top-notch performances from this sublime orchestra and conductor, and above all immortal music of the highest quality one can imagine. The Third symphony will release so many emotions that I can barely keep pace with it. A plethora of images and so many details to consider, one gets quite overwhelmed. If one is not moved by this music I eat my hat. That said, be nice and buy this CD, Gipps deserves it. And no, I will not reimburse you, if you disagree with me after listening to it.
