Laziness has no age. I've been lazy since my childhood. I mean, why do something today? Maybe tomorrow there will be no need to do it.  ;D

Agree, we all die eventually. Plus the human species will be extinct before the earth will die.

As an Orthodox Christian, I oppose such radical pessimism. Yes, we all die eventually --- but eventually we will all be resurrected.

John 5:29, KJV: And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Those who campaign against background music in shops, restaurants, hotel lobbies and lifts do not have history on their side. A whole corpus of marvellous music, including the delightful Mozart Divertimenti on these discs, is not intended for serious listening. Its original performances were certainly given against a hum of conversation and probably in the open air.

Thrice amen!

(Worth seeing for the glimpses of Schmelzer -- his conducting style is extraordinary)

Yes, a somewhat special conducting style, but this suddenly made me see the anachronism in there being a conductor at all for this work with 6 parts (voices). In most other contemporary groups of the same kind, the leader is one of the singers. But otherwise I think that the performance of the piece was very fine and intense and with a good balance and tone production.

Yes I guess it is anachronistic. When you see him conduct, he is so vigorous with hands and eyes, aware of everything, controling everything. I'd love to know how they work -- whether he imposes a conception on the musicians, puts them on rails. You really should try to get to a Graindelavoix concert if you can.

That sounds wonderful. I can keep eating Tiramisu eternally.

Other than accompanying Anne Quefflec (and excellently at that), I do not believe I've heard Jean Francois Paillard conduct.  I passed on that 140 disc complete set, and that was probably a good move, but I will say that this Telemann recording sounds delightful.  Not HIP in the current fashion, it nonetheless sounds extra light, more than a bit dancy, and just hits the spot.  (Is it possible for Telemann to sound Gallicized?  On the evidence of this recording, I say yes.)  I always enjoy Telemann, and every time I listen I swear I will listen to more.  Maybe this time that holds true.  I will now assert that I will listen to more Paillard.
