I would like to disagree, in my view Marais is musically murdered on this disc.

Paillard J.S.Bach box disc 15: Solo Cantatas BWV 54 & 169.

So, reaching the end of the box. Good solid performances, but WHY does Birgit Finnilä sing on the left instead of center? This is distracting. Also, why did Erato still in the late 70's sell "Schlage doch, gewünschte Stunde" as J.S. Bach's composition? Not even on this 2022 boxset is the work re-attributed to Melchior Hofmann.

DavidW: The Prazak Quartet box was just released last month, and at least in my opinion it's well worth getting! The various Amazons have it now, and it's available at a higher price from the UK retailers (Presto and Europadisc.) Oh baby!  The mother load!  It is everything.  Their Beethoven is one of my favorites, and I really like most of their recordings.  I have to buy this box.  Thanks!!

Two new composers to me.

Both were new to me when I originally bought this disc, but that's quite a few years ago now. I think the other works were all on an LP Simon Rattlle did back in his CBSO days, called simply The Jazz Album. I enjoyed that too at the time, though I haven't heard it in years.

I have always found the Violin Concerto to be both an exciting and intriguing work with a wonderful slow movement and a terrifically exciting final movement. A wonderful work.

Yes I prefer this performance to other famous recordings. I own the Ancerl Gold edition, but I like this cover art and use it for my iPod.
