I accidentally had autoplay on, the algorithm decided to have me listen to this music that I've never heard before... and I really like it!

Spectacular!

Love the acid jazz 2nd movement of the piano sonata (the rest of the piece is great as well).  This is a better recording than Zimerman's

I have the Zimmerman somewhere. I stumbled upon a DUX recording which includes all of Bacewicz' Piano Sonatas (including an unpublished, unnumbered early sonata) and I'm intrigued.

My wild goose chase for this set ended on Apple Music.

Mozart, Symphony No 32, Martinon, Lamoreux. Spirited. I love the way the old French orchestras played Mozart, as if they had something to prove. :)

It's been ages since I last listened to Ginastera...

The CD starts with some early songs, including Las Horas de una Estancia (to texts by Silvana Ocampo, sister of Victoria, and wife of Adolfo Bioy Casares). We then get Pampeana No. 1 for violin and piano, and the late Piano Quintet, op. 29.

Nice performances!

Earlier, something new

I've always liked Sierra; this continues that opinion.

Now something from my "not listened to in a long time pile".

Very enthusiastic playing and good sound--perhaps a bit light in the lowest bass octave. (By the way, several other reviews mention the lack of bass, so it's not just me or my stereo!)

The Hindemith buzz reminded me of one piece I haven't listened to in a while:

I really like him.  I'll probably give it another spin soonish.

Pocket Music

I don't know if anyone has an interest in Musique Concrète, but I have had a distant respect with the movement. This one focusing on found objects, mostly from pockets, is fun.

I will admit I know the composer, but haven't spoken with him since the 90's. He taught me to write about music theory in long form with a modicum of intelligence. It is good to see he is still composing.

I don't believe I'm familiar with the Hindemith Konzertmusik - I know the more well-known one for strings and brass, but not this one. I'll definitely investigate. Thanks, Karl!
