Nothing special. I've been using a laptop for 6+ years, it's getting wonky and at my age with declining eyesight I want a large monitor.
Got a cheapo Dell desktop, Inspiron i3 (I don't play games or need heavy-duty processor), 1 TB HD (if I decide to digitize a lot of CDs, will add an external HD). Got a good deal on a Dell UltraSharp 24" monitor. Paid up for Office 2019 Home/Student so I can work from home (often use Word and Excel). And a cheapo webcam for Zoom sessions (old laptop of course has integral webcam).

I hate to mention these details because I don't want to incur the archetypal forum Mac lecture. (Apple fans, please spare me: I know I'm a dumbass and your s**t is better, but it's too costly and PC is standard for a lot of local municipal software I use.)

I have also a Dell Inspiron and it's fine with me. :)

Beethoven op.2/1

Good in parts. Not in others. Too many bits of rhetorical mucking about for my taste.

Scriabin, Piano sonata no.5

To me, one of his most ecstatic works.

are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

After watching the Friday livestream, revisiting this concert with the Minnesota Orchestra and conductor William Eddins. Alberga (born in Jamaica, now living in Herefordshire, UK) was new to me, and her quartet is quite engaging. The Ravel featured the debut of Lynn Williams, the orchestra's new principal harp. And conductor Eddins (also new to me) did a light, energetic reading of the Beethoven.

Part of the broadcast was a feature on safety protocols, helped by a team from the University of Minnesota. Researchers analyzed the air emissions from wind and brass instruments, to determine what precautions should be taken. (All other players were masked, and 6 feet apart from each other.) No audience members were present in the hall.

Very pleasant and well composed music in pristine performances. Good sound too. To close of my listening day, this will do nicely.

Sublime!
I like all four - No. 4 is known without a number, the 'Symphony on a love song' - of Nino Rota's symphonies very much. One of last year's discoveries.
