There is another recording of The Seasons by him with a Soviet orchestra. I haven't seriously compared the two recordings though.

Yeah, I haven't heard nor own the other recording you mention. I do wonder what the differences could be? Probably not much.

Just 'coz they're British doesn't mean we shouldn't be compassionate!  8)
But taking them to Siberia will add a stiff lower lip to the English stiff upper lip...  :P
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

This is true. :) Okay, in the name of all things decent and honorable, Siberia is now out of the equation --- they'll be dropped off in North Korea now. :P There! I hope they're happy now! :D

Symphony No. 8 in E-flat, Op. 83

Yet another gorgeous performance of a masterful symphony, which actually turned out to be Glazunov's last. He never finished what would be his 9th.

A recent bargain purchase from Presto:

The Kletzki / Suisse Romande 5th is not at all bad.

Englund: 1st Symphony "War".

Presumably an ADD recording from 1979 which is very good indeed. Turku Philharmonic conducted by Pertti Pekkonen.
You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.

Boyle: The Magic Harp

This is a relatively short orchestral work at just over 10 minutes but it is a fine composition. She was a fine orchestrator.

I also found Elegy, a short work for cello and orchestra which is also very fine.

There is also a string quartet which I will investigate later. One needs to concentrate fully on a string quartet.

Thanks for link. Lovely piece and Boyle is not out of place sharing with the other two slightly better known composers on this recording. ;D The walking bass line Boyle often uses in her music I find reminiscent of Elgar.

An exciting performance of Berlioz's endlessly fascinating Symphonie Fantastique is here preceded by a terrific performance of Dutilleux's Métaboles.
