That's the kind of late Schmitt piece I like!  :) Good day, John.

Hey Andrei, I thought one of your New Year's resolutions was to start exploring 20th Century music?

Well, Peteris Vasks the day before yesterday, Zemlinsky and Schreker yesterday.  Now playing this:

Satisfied, John?  :D

As mentioned before by "Spotted Horses" from the famous "Derrière" edition.  :D

Ibert, delivered under the baton of Jarvi:

Sarabande pour Dulcinée: Short in length but lyrical and atmospheric in content and quite enchanting in places.

Ouverture de Fête: This is a fine piece of orchestral. It is atmospheric, lyrical, buoyant and powerfully and assertively delivered in the appropriate places by Jarvi who also provides a jubilant conclusion.

Féerique: Once again I find myself using the adjectives lyrical and atmospheric which certainly apply here.

A very fine recording, much favoured by me, and it is a spectacular recording
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

That is the Alain set that I also own. I have often thought about getting her second cycle for comparison purposes.

Not yet. ;) Anyway, love the Zemlinsky you've been listening to and that Korngold is a fine recording. I haven't warmed to the Schmidt.

Something from your fellow countryman Enescu would be nice. How about his Piano Quartet No. 2?

After Korngold ends, I'll go for it. I remember liking it.
