Interesting.

Looks tempting!

Give in to temptation.
[The same advice applies to all of Jacob's Mozart, if you can find them at a decent price.]

Do you have a favorite cycle of the "Canciones y Danzas"? Seems a lot of pianists are either too songlike in the dances or too dancelike in the songs.

You know, I've never really thought about that even though I have somehow managed to amass ten sets.  I'm inclined to say either Deljavan or Perez, but this seems like something that may require a more thorough assessment.  Hmmm.

Streaming is great, and this recording represents the perfect reason why.  Old fashioned and beautiful playing of even more old fashioned music that I have now heard in two interpretations.  I may very well go the rest of my life without listening to it again, but it's nice to hear.

Now, if all those harder or impossible to find French market recordings could be made available for streaming worldwide.  I want to hear every single note Jean Marie Darre recorded, for instance.

What might help there is the reissue of the three Da Ponte operas:

It is, but be aware that much of the music is doubtfully attributed. For instance, CD 2 (which I'm listening to now) is a set published by Hue in Paris 1742, entitled "Opus Posthumous" even though Albinoni was still alive. The Third Sonata is now known definitely to have been composed by Pepusch, so the recording omits it. Of the other five, three may not be by Albinoni.
So only two definitely written by the person named on the CD cover.

Thanks! I think as long as it is good Italian Baroque that is well performed, I'm quite open minded.   :)

Jeanne.

Her Chopin etudes are well worth hearing, an unforgettably good Tristesse. I haven't heard the rest - not my sort of music really.

It's one of my three top picks out of the Holy Nine. (The other two are the Eighth and Seventh.)

I like it too,it was not easy to find a copy.it's a pity that it is oop.The booklet even includes a Dutch translation which is very exceptional. The program is very varied despite the bridging theme. The different harpsichords are equally beautiful and show a wealth of overtones.  :)

:D  It was Mandryka who brought it to my attention and I had no peace of mind before I got a copy for an acceptable price. Searching for these kinds of recordings often fills a lot of my time larded with beautiful music of course.
