Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Looks interesting! :) Recommended?

Today's Schumann piano sampler:

I liked this one a lot, more than other Uhlig volumes. Which unfortunately does me no favours in my ongoing process of deciding overall which collection I want to buy.

Yes, if only for the fact that these pieces are WPR. The sound is excellent, and the performance will pass muster, at least for me. The music is most enjoyable.

This also arrived on disc,  all the way from the USA:

Madiel

Falla

3 Dances from El sombrero de tres picos
Suite from El amor brujo

Arrived today. This set certainly gets off to a cracking start with the dances. The suite is a little moodier but still has very appealing music.

The underlying Falla LP from which these and the pieces on Volume 3 (that I heard earlier in the week) are drawn is available online these days (for streaming at least, probably for purchase). I'd say it would be a highlight of de Larrocha's discography.

The next bit of this set will be a bunch of composers pretty much unknown to me, drawn from a Spanish recital that was one of de Larrocha's first Decca albums if not THE first, so that will be interesting. And then the whole 2nd disc will be Mompou.
